You’re invited to hit the waters of the iconic Tidal Basin as we celebrate the first day of spring kicks AND the start of the Festival with Stumpy’s Petals & Paddles Race, hosted by Boating in DC, on March 20 from 4 - 7 PM! Hop in a pedal boat and race past the blooming blossoms while admiring some of the nation's most scenic views and monuments—all in memory of our dearly departed but never forgotten friend, Stumpy. The race features both timed heats and friendly competitions, with awards for the fastest boats per age group and best dressed participants. Ready to race to the finish line? Save the dates, March 20 - April 13 National Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the world's great celebrations of spring! Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates spring in Washington, DC, the 1912 gift of the cherry blossom trees, and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan. The Festival produces a wide array of events featuring diverse and creative programming promoting traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit. Events are primarily free and open to the public.
