??We love to share inspiring tips, and resume tips are always welcome! ??
How I 5x’d My Interview Rate While Pivoting Into Product My resumes were only landing interviews ~8% of the time - which wasn’t going to cut it. So, I made a few key changes and got that number to 50%+, landing multiple offers, even while pivoting into a new field. ?? Word Cloud Optimization I pulled the top 10 product roles I wanted, ran the job descriptions through a word cloud, and made sure my resume reflected the most common terms*. Eventually, I switched to Teal, which automated this for me. *Rather than tailoring my resume for every posting, I created a couple designed specifically for different roles. ?? Google’s XYZ Formula No fluff. Every bullet followed this structure: "Accomplished [X] by doing [Y], resulting in [Z]." Impact over everything. ?? A/B Testing Resume Formats I tested multiple versions - turns out, a simple 1-column layout outperformed the fancy 2-column designs. Your results may vary, but clean, scannable, and ATS-friendly wins every time. ?? Complimentary Attachments A resume alone won’t cut it. I included case studies, portfolios, videos, and creative cover letters to strengthen my applications. Pivoting into a new space? Position yourself accordingly. ?? Network, Network, Network - Not just to "get referrals," but to learn - Talent specialists helped refine my resume/portfolio & negotiation skills (shoutout to Daniela and Ivana!) - 30+ PMs helped me shape my positioning - And sometimes, I just met some really cool people The result? 4/5 of my offers in the past year didn’t come from only an application. They came from my network. And the 1/5? I applied via LinkedIn ?? It is possible! ?? I’m offering a few free resume reviews! (Link in comments!) If you can’t snag a spot, drop your email in the comments, and I’ll send you the resume template that landed me 40+ interviews! Next post → Interview prep.

If I were an undergraduate student starting my internship hunt in March 2025, here's precisely how I'd approach finding a Summer 2025 internship: ? BEFORE THE SEARCH: 1) I'm not going to be hard on myself for starting the job hunt "too late" even if half my classmates already have offers. I'm on my own timeline. ? WRITING THE RESUME: 2) I'm making sure my resume is up-to-date on my career from within the last 6 months. That includes adding 2024 internships, relevant course work, new extracurriculars I'm in, etc. I'll utilize Google's XYZ resume formula as a template for writing my resume bullets (https://lnkd.in/gnMGa9hR) and Chat GPT to help refine my writing. ? FINDING/APPLYING FOR ROLES: 3) I'm exclusively using early talent job boards (https://lnkd.in/g5MPgA2b), LinkedIn, and Google for finding roles to apply for. I'll turn on job alerts for all platforms to stay updated when apps go live and aim to apply within the last 24-48 hours of the posting going up. →On Google, my search follows this formula: "summer 2025 [insert industry] internships in [insert location]". The more specific I am, the better. Ex: "summer 2025 fashion marketing internships in nyc" → On Linkedin, I'm searching through posts made in the last 1-2 weeks with the key words "summer 2025 [insert industry] interns" to see listings/roundups of jobs 4) I'm setting a goal that's feasible for my class schedule so I don't get burnt out on my job hunt. That could mean applying for 5 internships a day or 30 a week. 5) I'm looking at a mixture of corporate internships, non-profit internships, and professional development programs such as SEO Career, INROADS, Emma Bowen Foundation, MADE internship program, etc. 6) Remind myself that LinkedIn and portfolio are complimentary to my resume and a chance to exemplify the work I list on my resume through linking relevant articles, presentations, etc. Great way to stand out! ? INTERVIEWS: 7) I'm coming to the interview with an interview prep doc that includes important relevant stories from my past roles I should talk about, notes on the company/role/interviewer, and 3-5 post interview questions to ask 8) In screening calls with recruiters, I'm asking "What does the interview process look like" and "Based on my resume and our conversation today, is there any experience/skill sets I have that you think I should focus on in my next interviews" to give me insight about what to expect moving forward. ??
