According to the CDC, construction and extraction workers have the highest suicide rates among all U.S. occupations. The demanding nature of the work, coupled with factors like job insecurity and financial pressures, can significantly impact mental well-being. This week, we’re breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and emphasizing the importance of reaching out for support when needed. Each day, we’ll be highlighting crucial resources and information to help you and your colleagues navigate mental health challenges. Today, we’re introducing the Suicide and Crisis Hotline number—988—a lifeline for those in crisis. Remember, suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Eye-Opening CDC Statistics: ? Construction workers face significantly higher suicide risks compared to the general public. ? The construction industry ranks second in U.S. suicide rates, and mining extraction workers being the highest. ? For every suicide, there are about 20 attempts. It’s okay not to be okay.
