Cub Scout Pack 3172 worked with Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors in helping to protect our Riverwalk trees from the industrious beaver. Scouts applied a fresh coat of paint to deter the beaver from taking our trees for his dam. The paint is a secret concoction of paint, sand, and pepper - deterring, but not harming, the beaver, yet protecting the trees from damage and destruction.

During our annual fundraising event, Shoot for the Moon, we raise funds through selling delicious MoonPies. As a part of that event, we also donate boxes to the non-profit Friends Of The Troops so that everyone can enjoy a MoonPie! Here's what they had to say after receiving their treats. "Friends Of The Troops would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to Cherokee Area Council BSA for donating over 13,300 mini MoonPies to our military! We'd also like to thank MoonPie for facilitating the freight and delivery of the pallets to our location. These sweet treats will be sent to troops serving all over the globe! Thank you for supporting our military!"

Congratulations to Brock of Boy Scout Troop 20 for completing his Eagle Project of refurbishing the JROTC Raiders course at Soddy Daisy High School. It got a proper testing as Soddy High hosted the District competition this past weekend. We love seeing our Scouts making a difference in their community.

Local Scouts helped collect and load more than 121,000 pounds of emergency supplies which are now on the way to hurricane-ravaged Western North Carolina.??Cherokee Area Council Scouts were honored to serve alongside US-101, the Audacy, Inc. family of stations, Local 3 News, Food City / KVAT Foods Inc., Tranco Logistics, the Hamilton County and Catoosa County Sheriff's Departments, and the Cleveland City Police during Operation Good Neighbor.?Many Scouting groups worked collecting emergency supplies and loading them onto trucks in Hixson, Ringgold, and Cleveland.?Our community’s generosity was on full display completely filling four and half semi-truckloads with items for communities around Asheville, North Carolina. We are extremely proud of our Scouts for honoring their oath to “help other people at all times,” especially in times of need.
