CCG served as the Owner's Representative in bringing PUMA’s state-of-the-art distribution center to life! ???? This massive 1 million square foot facility in Glendale, AZ is a testament to innovation and efficiency. From its high-tech fulfillment system to its sustainable design, this project truly stands out. A big thanks to the entire team involved for their hard work and dedication. The Puma Distribution Center is a nearly 1 MSF million facility situated on 98+ acres within the 303 Crossroads Industrial Park in Glendale, Arizona. In March 2022 Layton Construction began work on it as a spec build warehouse space. Puma – one of the world’s leading sportswear brands – later that year signed on as the building’s tenant, transitioning to a build-to-suit finish. The project includes a 165,000 SF mezzanine with 10,000 SF of office space and a variety of high-tech elements throughout its rentable square footage (1.02 million RSF). With a clear height of 40 feet, the design features canopies, industrial steel, and large clerestory windows to provide natural light in the storefront space. The space includes enhanced HVAC to accommodate Arizona’s hot summer. The main office is set to be LEED Gold certified. As a regional distribution center, Puma expects to bring more than 200 additional jobs to the area. Assistance from the City of Glendale’s development services department was instrumental in keeping the project on track in order to deliver an operational building for Puma without impacting the delivery timeline. Puma selected a sophisticated fulfillment process that uses robots operating across a grid system to gather items in 360,000 product bins. An additional 16,000 amps of power had to be brought in to accommodate the advanced conveyor – more than double the requirement for the rest of the building. Additionally, the warehouse is designed to maintain an 85-degree maximum temperature by being fully insulated with a robust HVAC system. The space has 12 heat pumps as compared to the normal three.
