?? On World Sustainable Transport Day, let's reimagine our urban journeys! At Chemistry Team, our research (part of a bigger research project from Responsible Sensing Lab?AMS Institute, City of Amsterdam Smart Mobility and experts from ESDiT Research Programme consortium), revealed exciting possibilities for navigation apps to revolutionize city travel. For instance that the majority of the participants (citizens of Amsterdam) were open to actively choose other options than "fastest" or "shortest", for a better urban environment. Where (personal) values like safety or sustainability can positively steer navigation decisions, as long as users are allowed to keep their autonomy in balancing personal needs with societal impact. Our findings show that thoughtful UX design can drive sustainable behavior change. By offering clear impact reporting and multiple route options, we empower citizens to make informed choices that enhance city liveability. But let's think beyond navigation apps. Like car-sharing schemes that reduce individual ownership or the "E-Lympic" filling station, Amsterdam is building?together with TotalEnergies and Pon. Shifting from classic, fuel focussed solutions, to a pioneering mobility hub, bringing together various innovative mobility solutions under one roof. As UX professionals, we have the power to shape a more sustainable future. How are you designing for greener urban mobility? Share your innovations! #SustainableTransport #UXforGood Marek Kruszel Thijs Turel Fabian Geiser Jop Pék Julia Hermann Kathrin Bednar Eduardo Green Susanne van Gelder

Chemistry is excited to have been part of the Mitsubishi Jisho Design Asia team as public engagement consultants for the North-South Corridor masterplan RFP Stage 2! What a rewarding journey it has been with the multidisciplinary team, putting together a vision and plan for the groundbreaking 21.5km multi-modal transport corridor ??♂?????
LTA North-South Corridor (NSC) Competition (Shortlisted for Stage 2 RFP) Earlier this year, Mitsubishi Jisho Design Asia was shortlisted to work with Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore, alongside our partner firms on the Request for Proposal (RFP) for Master Plan Consultancy for North-South Corridor's Surface Streets. From the months of March to June, Mitsubishi Jisho Design Asia worked closely with our partners RSP, Coen, SYSTRA, Yashima Design, Nipek Lighting, Chemistry, and Asia Infrastructure Solutions, to develop "a preliminary Concept Master Plan, which includes the design proposal for segments of the NSC near the city (from Beach Road to Bencoolen Street) and in residential areas (from Marymount Lane to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3), a public engagement plan and a design guide.“ With the close of the RFP, Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore has announced the appointment of Henning Larsen and partners as the Master Plan Consultant for the surface streets along the North-South Corridor (NSC). Nonetheless, it has been a fulfilling experience participating in this RFP and working closely alongside our partner firms and LTA. With COP29 wrapping up today, significant progress has been made on reaching the ultimate goal of halving global emissions this decade.?But there is still a ton of work to do for organisations and companies around the globe to become more sustainable, so let's put our money where our mouth is. In practice however, sustainability managers are facing significant challenges in steering their companies towards a more sustainable future. Research shows (1,2) that 68% of sustainability managers struggle to motivate and activate their teams to fully embrace sustainability initiatives. This resistance can significantly hinder progress towards corporate sustainability goals. It turns out Gamification is a?powerful tool to overcome these challenges. Studies (3,4) have validated the potential of gamification to improve motivation, engagement, and interaction in various settings, including sustainability efforts. By setting clear goals, providing rewards, and creating challenges, gamification encourages users to engage more deeply with sustainability concepts. This inspired us to partner with the Circle Economy Foundation to develop the Circular Edition of our BossUp! innovation game! By integrating game elements into sustainability?interventions, this playful approach turns complex sustainability concepts into fun, interactive experiences that resonate with employees at all levels. Your team will be able to: ? Learn more about sustainability in an engaging format ? Rise up and out of conventional thinking patterns ? Develop a?sustainability mindset?across functions ? Boost engagement and?inspire positive action Ready to give?your sustainability efforts a big boost? Then let's schedule a BossUp session together. DM us here and we'll get in touch with more details. On International Children's Day, we're reflecting on our journey of applying Human-Centred Design (HCD) beyond applications in developed economies to address some of the world's most pressing challenges affecting children. While HCD is often associated with developing solutions for consumer markets, our work with UNICEF proves its power in addressing critical challenges in low resource environments. In regions where children face the harsh realities of climate change, displacement, and conflict, UNICEF's dedicated teams work tirelessly to ensure every child has access to essential services like immunisation and nutrition. Through our capacity-building programs, we've supported passionate individuals from across the impact and NGO continuum in applying HCD approaches to overcome local barriers and create lasting impact. In the slides we've shared some of the key takeaways we've uncovered in this journey. To the incredible UNICEF teams that we've had the privilege to work with across East Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa - your unwavering commitment to protecting children's futures is inspiring. Gamification is one solution that transforms passive experiences into interactive journeys, keeping users engaged and motivated. In this carousel, we’re sharing key insights and actionable tips on how to incorporate gamification into your designs, inspired by our work on Myloh—a mental health app that uses gamification to support young people on their mental health journeys. https://lnkd.in/e62NQpCQ Gamification isn’t just about making things fun—it’s about building engagement and creating real value for your users. ?? Play isn’t another thing to do. It’s another way to do things. Thank you Ben Lai and team from the LEGO Group’s Creative Play Lab for hosting our Singapore team in your space! We got to see how their team explores Learning through Play and even got to revisit our favourite childhood memories of playing. Of course, no visit to Lego is complete without actually playing with some Lego. Through Lego building exercises, we definitely reignited some of our child-like curiosity and exploration. We also learnt about the 5 key characteristics of unlocking playful learning - joyful, meaningful, socially interactive, actively engaging and iterative. These principles are aligned with what we too advocate for at chem.lab. Looking forward to creating more playful adventures ahead! #SeriousPlay #Gamification #LearningthroughPlay
