CEF is wrapping up the week on a high note, and we’re thrilled to share this exciting moment with you all! As we continue Building the Future STEM Workforce, we wanted to give you a glimpse into what that looks like. The young women below, a team from Connecticut, took the initiative to engage with their local Mayor, Lisa Marotta, to share their innovative solution for a natural hazard impacting their community, aligning with this year's Challenge theme. Mayor Marotta welcomed the girls to her office to learn more about CEF’s Challenge Program, joined by Town Planner Kimberly Ricci and Ed Chiucarello, who shared insights on local issues like flooding, storm management, and recycling. Impressed by their initiative, the Mayor honored them with the “You Rock Award” and connected them with their local newspaper for a feature. Last Friday, the girls were interviewed at their school, and we’ll be sure to share the article once it’s published! This is a perfect example of how, thanks to the support of our donors and sponsors who believe in CEF’s mission, young minds—especially girls—are inspired to take action and make a difference.
