This #NationalNutritionMonth, let's challenge some outdated assumptions about food. Remember when cheese was considered a cardiovascular villain due to its fat content? Science is now telling a different story. A study published in 2022 by the academic journal, Nutrients, found that cheese consumption may actually have protective effects against several cardiovascular conditions, including: Type 2 diabetes Heart failure Coronary heart disease Hypertension Ischemic stroke The research also found associations between cheese intake and improvements in key biomarkers: Lower BMI Reduced waist circumference Decreased triglycerides Lower fasting glucose levels This doesn't mean we should all start consuming unlimited amounts of cheese, but it does suggest that moderate cheese consumption can be part of a heart-healthy diet—welcome news for cheese enthusiasts! As we focus on nutrition this month, let's remember that food science is constantly evolving, and simplified "good food/bad food" labels rarely tell the complete story. Quality, context, and overall dietary patterns matter most. Who else is adding a moderate portion of cheese to their lunch today? ?? #NutritionScience #CardiovascularHealth #HealthyEating #DietaryResearch #FoodScience Source: https://lnkd.in/grMNMzNX
