?? Congratulations to our CHC team members, Alexandria H. and Jasmine Jones, for representing CHC at the AMCHP conference in Washington, D.C.! ?? The AMCHP DC Annual Conference is one of the largest gatherings of maternal and child health (MCH) professionals?in the United States. This year’s theme, "Partnering for Impact," truly resonated with the work we do at CHC, and we were honored to present our Black Birthing Initiative poster at the conference. Throughout the weekend, Alexandria and Jasmine engaged in powerful discussions on improving maternal and child health outcomes, attended insightful presentations, and had the privilege of sitting in on a panel discussion led by our partner, Dr. Kimberly Wisdom from the Detroit Collaborative. This experience was both motivating and affirming, reminding us that our work is not only impactful but also deeply valued by others in the field. Thank you to everyone who continues to support and uplift this important initiative! Check out some photos of Alexandria and Jasmine presenting their work below! #BlackBirthingInitiative #MaternalHealth #AMCHP2025 #PartneringForImpact #CHC

Medicaid cuts could have serious consequences for the nearly 9 million older adults who rely on the program, including 1.5 million who depend on home- and community-based services (HCBS) to live independently. In a new commentary published by the Milbank Memorial Fund, Sarita Mohanty, MD, MPH, MBA, President & CEO of The SCAN Foundation, and Narda Ipakchi, VP of Policy and Programs, outline the real impact of these proposed cuts, including fewer health care options, delayed treatments, and increased out-of-pocket costs. "...We all must work to better elevate the direct experiences of older Medicaid beneficiaries. They are the true experts on how the program plays out in their lives. To them, Medicaid is not a policy on paper or a budgeting bargaining chip — it is a vital force that allows them to live and age well, a plate that protects them from death." The U.S. Surgeon General reports that social isolation is as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. With that knowledge, should leaders help their teams build deeper connections? When people work with others in the workplace, it’s not just about getting the work done. You're learning, you're engaging. It helps with your health overall because it reduces the feeling of social isolation and instead fosters greater connectivity and community. We are social beings and by embracing that, Jean C. Accius, PhD, NACD.DC believes it’s a real opportunity for the next generation of leaders. As leaders, we have an opportunity to make the workplace more than a job. We can make it a space for belonging, engagement, and better health. Do you believe in fostering real community in your workplace? You can check out the full episode with Jean where we discuss why 70% of employees want to quit their jobs (and what you can do about it) Listen to the full episode here: Apple: https://lnkd.in/gE4sQ7iE Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gxqVRujX? si=cRhSsiJuSUGfYAM8LtRu8A YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gVN5P_jG

From children and adults with disabilities to small business owners and essential workers, #Medicaid ensures access to lifesaving care. If proposed cuts move forward, the impact could be devastating—leading to increased medical debt, hospital closures, and economic strain across the nation. Medicaid expansion and the proposed Medicaid cuts are directly connected through their impact on coverage, access to care, and financial stability for both individuals and healthcare systems. Proposed cuts could reduce federal funding for Medicaid, making it harder for states to sustain expanded coverage, forcing rollbacks or stricter eligibility with reduced coverage. At CHC, we believe real stories illustrate why Medicaid matters. Triana Arnold James, Founder of The Susan Jolley Foundation, shares one such story: "Susan’s story exemplifies why Medicaid expansion is essential—it’s more than just a policy debate; it’s a matter of life and death. Far too many individuals, especially women, are deprived of critical screenings and treatment due to gaps in coverage. Had Georgia expanded Medicaid, Susan could have received the preventive care, early screenings, and timely treatment that might have saved her life." The Susan Jolley Foundation, a CHC partner, works to increase education, awareness, and access to preventive measures for HPV-related cancers. By standing against Medicaid cuts, we fight to ensure more people receive the care they need—because early interventions lead to better outcomes. ?? Join us in advocating for Medicaid. Share these stories, amplify the message, and help us build a healthier future for all. https://lnkd.in/eWApR-TY #ProtectMedicaid #HealthEquity #CHCPartners #MedicaidExpansion #MedicaidDiaries

"In a statement to the Medical Committee for Human Rights in 1966, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, 'Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.' It is now almost 60 years later, and we still lack equitable health care coverage for all people.?The failure to ensure that Medicaid coverage is available to individuals and families that cannot afford or have access to other forms of healthcare is inhumane.?We must ensure that are voices are heard by policymakers to make certain that every person has access to proper health care coverage."? Dr. Elsie Smalls, the Breastfeeding Program Manager at Healthy Savannah—a CHC community partner—advocates for health coverage for all people and families in this entry in CHC's Medicaid Diaries. Proposed cuts to Medicaid threaten entire health networks, local economies, and public health.?Read more stories and learn more at https://lnkd.in/eWApR-TY.
