关于我们
Founded in 1972 and renamed in 1983, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is committed to leading a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region. The Food Bank acquires and distributes healthy food across a 20-county service region including Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with help from its network of over 300 partner agencies. Last year alone, the Food Bank distributed over 15.1 million pounds (equal to 12.6 million meals) and served over 25,000 people each week. In addition to food provision, the Food Bank works to engage the public in the fight to end hunger and empower people to take responsibility for their health and their lives. For more information or to find out how you can get involved, visit our website at www.chattfoodbank.org. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

??A garden is blooming again at the East Lake Academy of Fine Arts! ?? What were unused beds this time last year, are now filled with cabbage, broccoli, tomatillos, and more. Mr. Deonte Jackson, a 6th grade math teacher, guides students through every step of the growing process. Everything they harvest goes to students, families and staff. East Lake Academy is located in a food desert which was recently made even worse by the closing of the nearby Food City. In this area, 25.7% people are food insecure, nearly double the rate for Hamilton County overall. The school was recently awarded a $25K grant through the Hamilton County Health Department, which will be used to enhance their outdoor spaces, including much-needed upgrades to the garden! The school's garden is part of our Garden Network, along with 20+ other community, school, and church gardens throughout our service area. We are proud to support their efforts and look forward to seeing the garden and school community grow together!

Veteran's Day is tomorrow- a day for gratitude and reflection. We honor and thank our neighbors, staff, volunteers, and donors who have served our county. In 2023, the Military Family Advisory Network found that 1 in 5 military and veteran family survey respondents indicated some level of food insecurity. Alongside the Feeding America network, we are committed to serving our veteran community. #BetterTogether #VeteransDay
