Thank you to, The Home Depot for volunteering with us! Team 1: Today, a portion of Home Depot volunteers worked in the Unity Garden alongside our garden coordinator, Coles Bradley. They helped plant kale, prepared new planting beds, and helped with weeding and maintenance of existing planting beds. They also moved mulch and soil and helped clear away the winter garden covers. All produce from our Unity Garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities to help ease food insecurity in our community. Last year we produced nearly 10,000 pounds of fresh produce for donation! Team 2: Several Home Depot volunteers worked on preparing the pool area and camp house as we begin our seasonal punch list to get ready for another summer of fun at our award winning Camp Kingfisher! Once this task was completed these volunteers joined Team 1 in the Unity Garden. Team 3: An intrepid group of Home Depot volunteers grabbed rakes and pitchforks, donned wading boots and jumped into a muddy culvert to help our operations crew clear leaves and debris from the spillway that flows from Kingfisher Pond to the Chattahoochee River. Once they had the water flowing at Kingfisher, they moved up to Beaver Pond to clear the spillway that feeds the creek that ultimately leads to Kingfisher Pond. Their hard work paid off and a small waterfall appeared as the water flowed freely to the creek bed below! We always appreciate our corporate partners who create a workplace culture that empowers their employees to volunteer and give back to their community. Today, Floor & Decor volunteers worked in the Unity Garden alongside our garden coordinator, Coles Bradley. Your team helped build a new garden trellis at the back of the garden and helped weed and maintain the garden beds. All produce from our Unity Garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities to help ease food insecurity in our community. Thank you Genuine Parts Company for volunteering with us! Our Operations team sends you a big THANK YOU for assisting with our ongoing relocation project. Yesterday, GPC volunteers moved heavy equipment from our old operations building to a storage area to make space for the expansion of our award winning Camp Kingfisher. Thank you to our amazing volunteers who came out on a VERY COLD morning to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with Chattahoochee Nature Center! Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. emphasized the profound importance of volunteering and serving one’s community as a way to uplift others and foster a sense of shared responsibility. He believed true progress is made when individuals come together to serve and support one another. In his words, "Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve." Today, our volunteers tackled 3 projects: ??We used wheelbarrows to move a LARGE quantity of mulch from the plaza area to the meadow picnic area. ??We had a team working on locating/moving and dismantling old picnic?tables. ??We had another large mound of mulch spread on the island of our parking lot.
