This past week I joined Bank Director in Nashville for the annual Bank Board Training Forum. As always, it was great to attend and make so many impactful connections. I led a special training session for seasoned directors on the topic of the board's role in #CEOSuccessionPlanning. Within our group, we talked about a top piece of advice I give to any Board or CEO who wants to kick start the process. Take time to craft the FUTURE position profile. What attributes will your bank need in a CEO at the time of succession? How do those vary from the attributes your current CEO possesses? What determines if those attributes remain the same or change?
