LegalTech across 5 continents! This morning I took part in a session to welcome a delegation of international LegalTech firms to Leeds, as part of a UK trip they have all made this week with Department for Business and Trade. The firms were drawn from across no fewer than 5 continents. I had the opportunity to speak to the group about the regional and national LegalTech (and FinTech) ecosystems, and about Whitecap Consulting's work supporting international firms on UK market entry, as well as the work of LegalTech in Leeds and FinTech North. Thank you to Ewan Evans of DBT for hosting the day. Other locally based presenters included Amy Morgan (Barclays Eagle Labs), who gave an overview of the support they provide to the ecosystem, and Tom Purvis (West Yorkshire Combined Authority), who highlighted the strengths of the region including the recent case study of an international LegalTech firm moving here (PEXA UK), and Bob Spence who delivered a high energy (and highly insightful) session helping the visiting firms devising their approach to business development in the UK legal sector. It was great to see lots of familiar faces including Colin Russell, David Yates, Lana Dolan, Linda Leehane, and to meet Natalya Sharp, Stephanie C. and Ziyaad Ahmed.
