??How sweet it is ????...In today's episode of Maple Monday??, our students have moved from tree to table, boiling and bottling the sweet results of their maple syrup series in Science and Ag class with Mr. Clear! Show me the pancakes!!! ??????

Our staff and students from our Career Development & Occupational Studies (CDOS) program are excited to be collaborating with Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga (THS) through a hands-on woodworking project: ??building tack boxes for the horses and paddocks at THS! ?? We had the pleasure of touring THS on Friday to learn more about their programs, and we're thankful for this opportunity to enhance our students' trade skills for a real-world project!

??Creativity is nurtured by people and spaces! We are so fortunate to have art instructors who are implementing art-making in many different ways throughout the school day and through Therapeutic Arts programming. The space in which our staff and students get to work is known now as the Sarah B. Foulke Arts Center, renovated by a generous grant from that foundation and other philanthropic support. The incredible transformation was completed by our partners at Schrader and Co. Construction, who made our dream for the space come to life! ?? It's that sweet time of year where students are learning about the magic of maple trees! ?? From tapping the trees to making various syrups, it's another great hands-on way to learn something awesome in Science and Agriculture!

Last month, we shared some facts and info about Therapeutic Rec; this month, we'll be sharing about Therapeutic Arts! ?? ??Our art instructors approach their roles with the belief that every child is an artist. Through Therapeutic Arts at The Charlton School, our students are given an avenue to express feelings, process emotions, and develop personal identity in a space that is safe and creative. Did you know??It's Rec Therapy Month! ?? We have a Certified Recreation Therapist, Erika, on our staff here at The Charlton School, and she's making a positive impact by creating and facilitating highly individualized plans for each of our students. ?? Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.
