The CLT Alliance Young Professionals hosted a panel discussion last week that focused on giving back to the community. Attendees got the chance to connect with local nonprofit leaders and other YPs over the impact that community engagement and service has in the Charlotte Region. The YPs also collected books to benefit children’s clinics in the Charlotte area as part of a book drive to support Promising Pages. This quarter, the Lancaster County Department of Economic Development announced the expansion of a local heavy civil contractor, which will add jobs and capital investment to the region. The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance Advocacy Committee hosted North Carolina Treasurer-Elect Brad Briner. Committee members were able to ask questions and to begin an open dialogue with Briner as he prepares to enter office in January. He has extensive investment experience throughout his career and looks forward to getting started in his new role serving North Carolinians.

Thank you to all who joined us Tuesday at the CLT Alliance’s Investor Quarterly Meeting hosted by CBI | Workplace Solutions. CLT Alliance Interim President and CEO Andrea Smith led a conversation with business icons Hugh McColl and Harvey Gantt. The two reflected on their work to shape Charlotte and shared their visions for its future. McColl and Gantt spoke about their designs for Charlotte, much of which remain in place today.
