关于我们

The goal of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is to make Charlotte one of the safest large cities in America. To do that, we continually advance strategies that prevent crime. We find ways to engage the community in taking steps that help minimize opportunities for victimization. We explore appropriate policy direction with the Mayor and City Council. We seek solutions to the complex community problems that contribute to crime and disorder. And we enforce the laws and arrest the people who break them. The officers, staff and volunteers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department take very seriously their duty to provide citizens with professional, innovative and effective service. Community safety is a shared responsibility and we are committed to working in partnership with neighborhood residents and business owners as well as other local, state and federal agencies to reduce crime and increase safety.

  • Last week, two of our own were honored for their above and beyond work investigating shoplifting incidents at Charlotte-area Polo Ralph Lauren stores. Detective Scher of our Steele Creek Divison and Officer Bryan Walker of the South Divison are helping to maintain a safe shopping and working environment through their work. Thank you both for continuing to go above and beyond for the citizens of Charlotte!

  • Officers from Providence Division were invited to join a group from Levine Children’s Hospital for a day at the pumpkin patch. They had an incredible day helping these young patients enjoy some fall fun. From picking out pumpkins to sharing smiles and laughter, it was a heartwarming experience for everyone involved. We’re grateful for the chance to bring seasonal joy to these amazing kids. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, it’s moments like these that remind us of the power of community! #fallfun #community #LevineChildrensHospital

  • This holiday season, our dedicated officers teamed up with Walmart’s (1830 Galleria Blvd.) loss prevention team to make a difference! Together, we collected donations for families in need, helping to bring a little extra joy and warmth this Christmas. Every contribution, big or small, helps us support our community and spread the holiday spirit. The gifts donated will be given out at the CMPD Annual Blue Winter Wonderland held on Saturday, December 21st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at our Independence Division, 6711 City View Dr. Way to make a difference Officers Zarrella and Adames Aquino! #communityengagement #holidayseason #makeadifference

  • This morning, 12 Sergeants graduated from the CMPD Sergeants Leadership Development Course. The six-week course offers training and development opportunities for the rank that is often tasked with making the bulk of day-to-day decisions within their assignments. It is critical that they are armed with the training to do so effectively and these 12 have taken that on with the completion of this course. Congratulations class 006!

  • This past Saturday, the CMPD REACH program hosted an all-girls cooking and Zumba event. The day consisted of the young ladies being instructed on how to prepare a meal from scratch. They learned a formal dinner place setting followed by some Zumba to work it off. It was a fun filled day where they learned some new skills and good habits focused on healthy eating and exercise. Great job by our Community Engagement & Education Outreach Division!
