The officers, staff and volunteers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department take very seriously their duty to provide citizens with professional, innovative and effective service. Community safety is a shared responsibility and we are committed to working in partnership with neighborhood residents and business owners as well as other local, state and federal agencies to reduce crime and increase safety.

This week, our North Tryon Division held a community roll call in the Hampshire Hills community. It was held at Unity Park and was very well attended. These roll calls allow community members to meet and interact with the officers that patrol their neighborhoods and exchange resources. Great job, North Tryon!

Excellent work from the Freedom Division coordinating with Westover, Metro and University City Divisions, Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), Juvenile Accountability and Diversion Empowerment (JADE) team and the Crime Gun Suppression Team (CGST) to take 11 firearms off the streets. On Jan. 28 and Jan. 30, Freedom Division officers responded to calls for service on Cantwell Street related to shooting into an occupied dwelling. During the investigation, detectives identified five suspects who were involved in both the Jan. 28 and Jan. 30 incidents – four juveniles and one adult. On Feb. 18, four search warrants were executed with a total of 11 firearms seized as well as a large amount of ammunition. All five suspects were charged with multiple felonies related to this investigation. The teamwork and dedication of multiple divisions and specialized units across the CMPD led to a successful resolution in these violent crimes.
