Our Independence Division officers had a great time connecting with the community and Starbucks employees during a recent Coffee with a Cop event! Events like these help strengthen relationships and give us a chance to hear directly from our community. Our officers are committed to making a difference every day — one conversation at a time. #MakingADifference #CoffeeWithACop #CMPD
关于我们
The goal of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is to make Charlotte one of the safest large cities in America. To do that, we continually advance strategies that prevent crime. We find ways to engage the community in taking steps that help minimize opportunities for victimization. We explore appropriate policy direction with the Mayor and City Council. We seek solutions to the complex community problems that contribute to crime and disorder. And we enforce the laws and arrest the people who break them. The officers, staff and volunteers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department take very seriously their duty to provide citizens with professional, innovative and effective service. Community safety is a shared responsibility and we are committed to working in partnership with neighborhood residents and business owners as well as other local, state and federal agencies to reduce crime and increase safety.

“It’s a different feel in Charlotte. I truly believe it’s a guardianship.” Creating that guardianship starts with community policing to build relationships and keep Charlotte safe. Central Division walking beat officers patrol the Uptown Trade and Tryon square as a visible, accessible presence in one of the most iconic areas of our city. The work they do making connections with residents, visitors and business is a critical part of perceptions of policing in Charlotte. If you see them in Uptown, make sure you say hello! #KeepingCharlotteSafe #OurCommunityOurCommitment

Women’s History Being Made The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is making historical impact with their executive leadership team being predominately women. In an era where law enforcement are facing unprecedented challenges, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), in Charlotte, North Carolina is leading the charge in fostering strong leadership and professional excellence. Recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in policing, CMPD is actively working to ensure female officers are empowered, supported, and visible at every level of leadership. CMPD’s commitment to female leadership is not about lowering standards, it is about ensuring the most qualified candidates, regardless of gender, have the opportunity to lead and serve. As CMPD continues to set the standard for excellence in policing, it sends a powerful message to the community: Women have a vital role in law enforcement, and they are here to lead, protect, and serve. CMPD’s leadership team is making history with a strong female presence, overseeing some of the department’s most critical operations. Three women lead major divisions: the Investigative Services Group, the Administrative Services Group, and the Special Support Services Group. Alongside them, three civilian leaders play vital roles in Business Services, Human Resources, and the Public Information Office. The team also includes the Lead Police Attorney and the Deputy Director of Information Technology Support for Public Safety. These women are not just holding titles, they are shaping the future of the department through innovation, leadership, and dedication. Despite these advantages, women make up only 12% of sworn officers nationwide. CMPD, however, surpasses the national average, with 15% of its sworn officers being female. While this is a step in the right direction, leadership acknowledges that more work needs to be done. Celebrating #WomensHistoryMonth requires acknowledging the history maker today making intentional decisions for the future of our profession. Thank you Chief Jennings for recognizing the impact women make in our profession. Gina V. Hawkins NAWLEE President 30x30 Initiative Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE)

Officer Nguyen took on the colossal task of presenting to 600 students from 20 different high schools. The event was the Annual Teens for Courage Summit, where students attended workshops and lectures to discuss various topics that teens face today. Nguyen single handedly covered the Cyber Bullying and Social Media portion, knocking down six sessions of 100 kids. He was well received and represented CMPD in stellar fashion. This is yet another example of the incredible work our Community Engagement Unit does on a daily. Great job, Officer Nguyen!
