The Charlotte Marketing AI Exchange has officially launched! Our inaugural event last Friday brought together a dynamic group of marketers, all eager to explore real-world, hands-on applications of AI to enhance marketing strategy, content creation, and efficiency. A huge thank you to Wray Ward, Gio Digital Media, Heide Roland, and Nicholas Kropelin for their support in helping Tammy Tufty, PCM? and Jessica Hreha bring this community to life! We had the privilege of learning from Ashley Gross of AI Workforce Alliance, who led an interactive session filled with actionable insights that marketers can implement right away. With a mix of beginner and intermediate genAI users in attendance, Ashley explored customizations, projects, GPTs and, of course, prompts for optimizing ChatGPT outputs. Hands-On Learning: What We Explored ???Customizing ChatGPT?– Marketers discovered how to fine-tune AI settings for personalized responses that align with their strategic needs and brand identity. ???Creating & Managing Projects in ChatGPT?– One of the most valuable takeaways was learning how to use ChatGPT as a workspace for ongoing marketing projects. From content planning and brainstorming to refining messaging and generating campaign assets, we explored how marketers can structure projects within ChatGPT—training it to adapt to their tone and style for more consistent, on-brand outputs over time. The biggest takeaway??Before applying AI, it’s critical to first understand the problem you’re trying to solve—only then can you us AI strategically to drive real impact. ??? What’s Next for Charlotte Marketing AI Exchange? Through a shared learning environment, our mission is to equip marketers with practical AI knowledge that they can apply immediately. So you have 200 AI use cases... How do you prioritize from there? There are many ways, actually. Marketing AI Institute's Piloting AI for Marketers certification has a helpful workbook for this process. (link in comments) Lisa (Berkley) Gately from Forrester as a valuable diagram taking into account legal risk as well. I think everyone would agree it's important to start now, and get off the ground. Best way to do this is to start small and focused. ?? Here’s a visual I like to use once you’ve finalized your list of use cases. Map them into this quadrant of impact (or value) and effort. 1. High impact, low effort use cases become your priority pilot projects or POCs. These are your "do now" use cases. Quick wins provide early evidence of value—critical capital needed to gain support for larger, more complex projects. 2. High impact, high effort becomes the "do next." Although more strategic, they require more time and may not provide the quick wins needed to build momentum. 3. Low effort, low impact are the more personal productive use cases. This is the "do when you have time" part of this quadrant. 4. Low impact, high effort are probably not worth your time right now. Juice isn't worth the squeeze. ?? Be sure the top 2 quadrants are aligned to your individual or team's goals and KPIs. Otherwise, you really are doing AI for AI's sake. And while cool, leadership won't care so much about that.
