Precious McLaughlin thank you for your commitment to giving back! You are truly an inspiration when it comes to pro bono.
During National Pro Bono Month, MVA Litigation Associate Precious McLaughlin reflects on “Why Pro Bono Matters”.
Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Businesses (CLIMB) provides pro bono business law services to historically under-represented entrepreneurs and small business owners of limited means. CLIMB partners with a growing list of referral sources to reach under-resourced entrepreneurs and small business owners, prioritizing service for people of color, women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, persons with disabilities, and veterans. CLIMB utilizes a network of volunteer lawyers from Charlotte law firms and corporate legal departments to provide free non-litigation business law services directly to eligible clients. CLIMB seeks to advance economic mobility and social justice in our local community by expanding access to the legal system in Charlotte. CLIMB strives to be part of a well-organized supportive network for entrepreneurs that contributes to an increased number of minority-owned small businesses in the Charlotte area.

Thank you Bobby R. for including Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Businesses (CLIMB) in the #MillieCEOSummit. I especially enjoyed listening to Ace Hood talk about the importance of mental health in entrepreneurship, including making space for self-care, meditation, wellness, spirituality, and therapy. When he started talking about overcoming toxic masculinity and generational trauma you could hear a pin drop in that room. What an awesome event!
Another great collaborative event in the books! Last night at Do Greater, Inc. | Do Greater Creative Labs, Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Businesses (CLIMB) partnered with gener8tor and Innovate Charlotte to provide Legal 101 for Entrepreneurs. Three volunteers attorneys, Adam Berkland, Evelyn V.P. Sechler, and Harrison Hull, from Robinson Bradshaw's Chapel Hill Office, provided an hour-long legal presentation followed by over thirty minutes of Q&A to early stage entrepreneurs. We are SO grateful to NC IDEA for providing the funding and sponsorship for this event and can't wait to continue exploring new ways to bring legal education to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Mecklenburg County. Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Businesses (CLIMB) is just getting started!!!
