Working to solve family homelessness
关于我们
Charlotte Family Housing (CFH)’s mission is to empower working families experiencing homelessness to achieve long-term self-sufficiency through three integrated services: Housing, Trauma-Informed Counseling and Empowerment Tools. Most of our families are employed in service-economy jobs such as bank tellers, call center reps, bus drivers, healthcare workers, and even teachers. They are moms who want to get ahead, but are stuck in a paycheck-to-paycheck cycle. Families partner with a support team of masters-level social workers and housing coordinators. CFH uses empowerment tools like matched savings and workshops that address areas such as financial literacy, career building, parenting skills, self-care and home-ownership. CFH fosters deep relationships with our families--holding them accountable to achieving goals, and rewarding progress long the way. Once a family leaves the program, CFH's goal is that they have a level of income, financial confidence, and a healthy support system that will allow them to maintain stable housing moving forward. CFH is proud that it keeps in touch with families for 2 years after leaving the program. 98% of families surveyed (at a client contact rate of 88%) are still stably housed 2 years later and 52 have purchased homes of their own.

Caring for CFH families takes creativity, strength & TEAM WORK ?? We're so grateful to the Wells Fargo Foundation for their generous gift that provided this amazing team at Wells Fargo - Ballantyne the materials to make 35 Welcome Home Baskets & 40 Happy Home Buckets for CFH families! The Welcome Home Baskets full of bedding, towels, and toiletries will greet families when they move into the shelter. The Happy Home Buckets full of cleaning supplies and household goods are gifted to families as they move into their own housing. Big thank you to Elizabeth (Liz) Chalker for being the ultimate champion of the CFH mission & helping make it all happen!

We're so excited about our new partnership with Change Please USA ? Through the Change Please program, individuals experiencing homelessness are empowered to get back into the working world. They learn everything needed to find work in the hospitality industry - from roasting and latte art to customer service - and then are introduced to new employment opportunities. Last month, we celebrated the kickoff of the first cohort of CFH participants who will complete the training program & receive the support they need to achieve their unique employment goals! Huge thanks to Brandy Bertram & Ryan McMillan for all you do ??
