Yesterday, I met a little boy in our program who I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.?He’s only five years old.?Despite having siblings, his parents made the heartbreaking decision to place him in foster care, feeling he was "too much" to handle. While his siblings remain with the family, he is now navigating a world where he feels completely alone. His therapist shared this picture from his therapy session. Using?Child-Centered Play Therapy, he created this image to process his trauma and loss. The?baby in the bubble?represents?him—isolated, while everyone else around him has connection, family, and caregivers.?This is how he feels. We are still in the early stages of helping him process his?loss, sadness, and confusion. But here’s the hope—therapy is giving him the space to?grieve, express, and heal. This work is?hard. But these kids?deserve it.?They deserve to be seen, heard, and supported as they navigate unthinkable pain.
