Another groundbreaking in the books! This morning, Charleston County, St. Andrew’s Public Service District, and state and local leaders broke ground on St. Andrews Fire Department Fire Station No. 3, which will serve as a Charleston County EMS facility. This new facility will expand the county’s public safety presence in West Ashley, strategically positioning EMS resources in a highly populated area convenient to local hospitals. Additionally, Greenbelt funds allocated by Charleston County Council will be used to create a passive park and stormwater retention pond, which will improve the area’s stormwater management – reducing impervious surface area and diverting runoff from the Church Creek Drainage Basin – and provide public greenspace for residents to enjoy.
