Then, in the fall of 2022, my husband started volunteering walking dogs at the shelter. In January 2023, Nala stole his heart while he was walking her, and she came home to us. At first they sort of ignored each other, but they are best buddies now! They love to nap together all the time, and snuggle together with us any time they can! Hope you like our Happy Tail!!" We are super excited to be participating once again in the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department St. Paddy's Day Block Party and Parade! Held on March 15th in Park Circle, this event is fun for the whole family. We are looking for friends of the animals as well as dogs and their owners who would like to walk with us to represent Charleston Animal Society! We will be handing out dog bones and tennis balls and greeting the parade onlookers. This is a quick 5 block parade and is tons of fun. Lineup is at 11:15, parade starts promptly at 12 noon, and is over by 12:30pm. Have you ever seen a cat walk on his two front legs? Well that's Pogue the cat's reality. This affectionate 3-year-old tabby was born with a congenital deformity that makes him unable to use his hind legs. Part of his tail was amputated after it was discovered he had previously fractured it. In spite of all he's been through, Pogue hasn't slowed down one bit. He is as cuddly and filled with purrs as any cat you'll ever meet. And now, thanks to the dedication of our innovative lifesaving team, Pogue has been made available for adoption and is one step closer to finding a loving home to call his own. It's because of special dogs and cats in need like Pogue, that we continue to run vital fundraisers like the Hank & Laurel Greer Lifesaving Raffle.
