Giving Back in Kuopio! At Charles River Laboratories in Kuopio, Finland, we’re proud to sponsor 2-4 charity organizations annually. This year, our team had the pleasure of supporting a local animal shelter/foster home. Thanks to Katja S., we were able to provide essential supplies like litter sand, cat food, and sanitation products to help care for animals in need. In addition to supporting the shelter, we also donated to the National Speech Disabilities Association, reinforcing our commitment to making a positive impact across different causes. Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer Jim Foster recently connected with Piotr Kosla, the founder of the PACS2 Research Foundation and father to Lena, who was diagnosed at 4-months-old with a life-threatening, very #raredisease. Lena is only the second child in Poland to be diagnosed with this rare disease, and 40th in the world. Soon after Lena’s diagnosis, our Leiden site in the Netherlands partnered with Piotr’s foundation, because they believed Lena could benefit from cell painting. With the help of Charles River and Lena’s fraternal twin, Zuzanna, significant progress has been made towards a treatment for Lena. We are honored to be able to collaborate with Piotr and the PACS2 Research Foundation. #LIFEatCRL

The foundation is a Quebec non-profit organization that aims to improve care to Quebecers suffering from cancer, enhance the quality of life for people with cancer and that their relatives, as well as to educate the population on the fight against cancer in Quebec.
