Your guide to a shockingly good charge!

关于我们

We attempted to build a mobile app that brought EV travelers together around more accurate information based on their lived experiences. We unfortunately fell short of that ambition and have chosen to cease operations and shut down until further notice. Thank you to all that had supported us in our journey and we hope that a better way to find chargers emerges in the near future.

Talk to me about startups, EVs, and transformative technologies

Hi LinkedIn Network, Thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes yesterday. Your kindness was humbling and especially meaningful after what has been a challenging year. It makes what I’m about to share even harder: I’ve begun the process of liquidating and shutting down Chargely. Since incorporating in March 2023, inspired by an incredible EV road trip across the country, I’ve learned so much about building a startup, working with a small remote team, and about myself. I’m deeply grateful for the amazing people I’ve met along the way and the connections I’ve built. There are too many to mention here, but I hope you know who you are. I also hope there’s an opportunity for me to return the favor of your time, advice, and feedback someday. As I look ahead, I’m shifting back into “exploration mode” and actively seeking opportunities to contribute in the following areas: AI and Emerging Technology At Chargely, we built our app using Flutterflow (a low-code platform) and integrated ChatGPT along with other AI tools to create a fast, effective MVP. Recently, I’ve been combining Flutterflow with CursorAI to tinker with new ideas, and it’s been an incredible way to deepen my coding and AI skills. The transformative potential of AI is clear—it will enhance productivity and empower more people to create at an unprecedented rate. My goal is to keep building my AI expertise and explore ways to use AI for good. One inspiring example is Siafu.ai, which showcases how AI can improve job searching. Electrifying Transportation & the Clean Energy Transition I remain passionate about transitioning transportation and buildings to smarter, greener electric energy. To keep the conversation alive, I’ve partnered with Andrew Lambrecht to co-host The Current Review, a weekly podcast diving into EV industry issues like tariffs, infrastructure reliability, and affordability. If you’re interested, follow our YouTube channel or reach out to share your thoughts on the show! Supporting Startups As a founder, I’ve learned so much from this journey—including the importance of avoiding pitfalls. I’d love to help others navigating the “0-to-1” phase. If you’re building something exciting and need feedback, a thought partner, or advice, let’s connect! If you’d like to chat or reconnect, here’s my Calendly link: https://lnkd.in/eVBPtJEN. Lastly, since birthdays are usually about receiving gifts, I wanted to share some “gifts” of my own—resources that have been incredibly helpful throughout my journey: This Week In Startups: https://lnkd.in/e4c23KxU Lenny’s Podcast: https://lnkd.in/e5kGWPe7 Hidden Potential by Adam Grant: https://a.co/d/f3y0vc5 The Tim Ferriss Show: https://lnkd.in/ep8kJY56 To everyone who has been part of my Chargely journey—thank you. While this chapter is closing, I look forward to whatever's next and being inspired by something new!

Founder & CEO at Electric Era | Revolutionizing EV fast charging technologies to electrify transportation

The Electric Era team recently had the opportunity to interview EV drivers at a few of our customer charging stations. They loved the speed of charge, not having to use an app & the high reliability. Check it out below ??? What stands out to me when I speak with EV drivers is the uniform craving for a better and more consistent EV fast charging experience. At EE we provide seamless mobility experiences for all Electric Era powered stations using our autonomous and learning software, a 24/7 network operations center, and continuous over the air software updates so our EV charging stations get better over time like a Tesla or Rivian. How else can we improve the charging experience for EV drivers? #evcharging #electricvehicles

Great post Alan Hejl! Keep up the great work in calling out the good, the bad, and the ugliest charging stations around!

Spark Access; Accessible Mobility & Disability Justice Advocate; CPACC

I'm assuming this Electrify America EV Charging site at Sheetz in Bedford, PA was recently upgraded through funds available by the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation and the Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility (EVC-RAA) program. (Just an assumption, but all the signs/clues are there!) It's unfortunately a classic example of best intentions paving the way to inequity and inaccessibility. By creating exclusive accessible approach, grid, and route to one spot, what happens to a site when that one spot is down and all others are functional? It means people with disabilities are excluded with no other options. You can also see that the accessible spot is the one site that is a generation behind in design. If I could wave a magic wand, it would be to distribute the spacing at this site to every station, improving safety and maneuverability for all customers. Its the rare case of a site with abundant open space to do exactly that, and have a van accessible space (9ft grid) at the end. #Accessibility #EVCharging #DownForMaintenance

    • Accessible marked EV Charging Space with a parking grid.
    • EV Charging Station screen displaying that its out of order at the accessible charging space.
    • Dog drinking water at a wide, but not accessible EV Charging Station
