We are pleased to share our contribution to exciting new findings identifying and confirming two novel genetic markers, APOL1 and ANKLE1, associated with Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)! Our unique DIVERSITY study for ophthalmic diseases focused on developing a diverse dataset for non-European ancestry, and played a crucial role in this discovery.? We couldn’t be prouder of the impact this research will have on the future of drug development and patient care.? This study reinforces the critical role of diversity in genetic research and Character’s unwavering commitment to ensuring all patient backgrounds are represented.? A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the study, especially our dedicated providers, and in-house Clinical Research team, for advancing scientific knowledge for all!

During #NationalEyeHealthWeek, we are excited to announce a significant milestone for Character Biosciences: we have reached our preliminary goal of successfully consenting 5,000 participants into our Age Related Macular Degeneration Progression Study! This achievement is a testament to our patient volunteers, our team, and the incredible impact we are positioned to make in #AMD therapeutic development by transforming the lives of those affected by this disorder. ? We extend our heartfelt gratitude, not only to our dedicated team, but also to our trusted eye care provider partners and clinical advisors for their close collaboration. Most importantly, we extend our sincere thanks to the 5,000 patients without whose participation we could not have achieved this milestone. We look forward to enrolling the next 5,000 participants into the study!
