Char Energy Equipment (CEE) is a Minnesota LLC founded in 2017 with eight owners with headquarters in Ada, MN. CEE was formed to design, build, and sell its patented horizontal-bake gasifier. The gasifier provides an environmentally-friendly method of using organic materials like lawn clippings, woody brush, ground paper, cardboard, food waste, animal carcasses, diseased trees, wood chips, saw dust, straw, corn stalks, manure, and sugar beet pulp. The gasifier converts these organic materials into biochar (a soil amendment and carbon sequestration agent), and syngas (a renewable fuel source). Initial markets are shaving/mulch manufacturers and sawmill operators and businesses and organizations in the forestry and paper industries. The value proposition for these customers is to turn waste wood products from a loss center into a profit center. Other markets for the gasifier include: poultry producers, farmers, municipalities, and other industries with biomass waste. CEE’s horizontal-bake gasifier typically runs between 600°F and 900°F, works on high-moisture woody and other biomass feedstocks, and no flame ever touches the biomass, leading to more consistent and higher-quality biochar and syngas byproducts. as opposed to direct burning pyrolysis techniques.
