It was wonderful to be part of the recent Organicology conference! ?? We enjoyed connected with like-minded individuals who share a deep care for our soil and sustainable practices. It was great to see many colleagues from Organically Grown Company, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and others. As well as many new friends! A highlight for me was the powerful talk by Leah Penniman of Soul Fire Farm. Leah is a Black Kreyol farmer, author, mother, and food justice activist who has dedicated 25 years to tending the soil and advocating for an anti-racist food system. #Organicology #SustainableAgriculture #FoodJustice #Community

Struggling with Soil Health? There’s a Natural Solution. ???? We hear it all the time from farmers and growers: Soil health is declining, and synthetic fertilizers just aren’t cutting it anymore. The loss of microbial diversity is making crops more vulnerable, requiring more inputs just to maintain productivity. It’s frustrating, costly, and unsustainable. That’s why we’re passionate about Black Soldier Fly Frass. ?? Frass is a natural soil amendment rich in beneficial bacteria, fungi, and chitin, a powerful compound that enhances microbial activity and improves plant nutrient uptake. Unlike synthetic fertilizers, frass builds long-term soil health, improving structure, water retention, and disease resistance—all while reducing dependency on chemical inputs. At Chapul Farms, we produce high-quality insect frass from Black Soldier Fly Larvae that upcycle food waste from local food processors. It’s a closed-loop solution that’s good for your crops and the planet. ???? Interested in giving frass a try? Let’s chat! Drop a comment below or send us a message to learn more. Have you tried insect frass in your soil? What results have you seen? Let’s start the conversation! ?? #SoilHealth #RegenerativeAgriculture #SustainableFarming

A call to action for all supporters of Chapul, and sustainable USA agriculture: Chapul Farms has been part of the Circular Solutions for Resilient Farms (CSRF) Initiative, an innovative project funded by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service - Climate Smart Commodities Grant awarded to agriculture innovators Re-Nuble, Chapul Farms, and IPM Institute of North America. We have been working with 16 small and underserved farms across the USA to transform how we care for our soil and land, embracing circular practices to improve soil health, increasing farm resilience, and producing high-quality crops. However, funding for this initiative has been frozen since January 20 and all communication from the USDA has stopped. Expenses that were already incurred by all parties are not being reimbursed, putting our small companies, and the USA farmers we support at significant risk. ?? How You Can Help ?? Please take just a few minutes to contact your representatives in Congress and urge them to take action. Here’s how: 1?? Find Your Representatives Visit https://hubs.ly/Q039lphq0 and enter your ZIP code to find your Representative and Senators. 2?? Reach Out to Them Call their office (numbers are listed on their official websites). Congressional offices track constituent calls, and a simple message like this works: ?? "Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I am a constituent from [Your City, State]. I’m calling to urge [Representative/Senator’s Name] to advocate for the reinstatement of USDA grant funding for the Climate Smart Commodities Grant. This program supports small, underserved farmers and promotes circular agriculture. These contracts must be honored. Thank you." Email or use their website contact form to send a similar message. Tag them on social media and share your concern publicly. 3?? Spread the Word Share this post and encourage others to take action! If your Representative or Senator responds, let us know. We need to hold them accountable. Thank you for standing with us and supporting resilient, sustainable farming. Your voice matters! ?? More details on our specific grant initiative can be found here: https://hubs.ly/Q039ljx-0 #SustainableAgriculture #FarmResilience #USDA #CircularSolutions #PolicyAction #SupportSmallFarms
