?? Insect-Powered Solutions to Industrial Organic Waste? ?? Custom Insect Farms Produce Feed & Fertilizers from “waste”?
关于我们
Chapul Farms Brings Biology Back to Food Systems. We use black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) microbiology to close agricultural production loops.?The insects consume and upcycle nutrients previously destined for landfills, restoring biodiversity to soils and gut microbiomes. We solve organics waste challenges by building BSFL farms on-site. The insects upcycle would-be-waste into two valuable byproducts: the larvae themselves (premium poultry, aqua, and pet feed ingredient) and frass (insect manure; a soil-healing synthetic fertilizer alternative). Our solution is simple - we are using nature's best bioprocessing technology, the black soldier fly, to introduce circularity into agricultural production. Our "secret sauce" is how we've developed and packaged all the ingredients needed for success: the insect feed and fertilizer markets, optimized farming technology, leading global BSFL experts, microbial feedstock treatments, and a high-impact partner project network to bring our solution to commercial scale. Contact us about project development for organics waste solutions, insect ingredients, or soil bioremediation products.

"We turned concrete into gardens. We turned barren dirt into living soil. We told stories of living systems. Of symbiosis. And of revival." - Pat Crowley, CEO of Chapul Farms at Wings Conference 2024 Join us! We're launching a $2.2m participated loan campaign NOW - https://lnkd.in/gnzfEiqa You can support the innovation going on at Chapul Farms by making a loan as small as $100. Driven by a passion for innovation, regeneration, and holistic natural solutions, Chapul Farms is pioneering a zero-waste insect agriculture nutrient recycling facility. By harnessing the remarkable capabilities of Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL), Chapul's elegant system transforms discarded food waste into nutritious, organic high-protein livestock feed and premium-quality organic soil amendments—keeping waste out of landfills and promoting the regeneration of our natural resources. Chapul Farms recently secured a prestigious $3.9 million grant from the USDA's Fertilizer Production and Expansion Program. This loan from Steward will provide the upfront liquidity needed by Chapul to utilize grant funds to help acquire the site where Chapul's first commercial scale BSFL facility will be located. Join us in supporting the innovative work going on at Chapul Farms to recover wasted resources, reintroduce insects into their vital role in our food system, and produce natural organic soil fertilizers for other farms. https://lnkd.in/gnzfEiqa . . #regenerativeag #sustainability #bsfl #soilhealth #microbiology #entomology #insects #bug #compost #environment #climatechange #SDGs #innovation #circulareconomy #soil #regenerativeagriculture #planethealth #soilfoodweb #soils #soilbiology #crophealth #biodiversity #zerowaste #biosemiotics Steward Aly Moore Sayla Grom Todd Severson Patrick Crowley Michael Place MEDP - McMinnville Economic Development Partnership Benjamin A. Team Visit to COR Disposal & Recycling ? Yesterday, the Chapul Farms team had the fantastic opportunity to tour COR Disposal and Recycling. We’re inspired by the incredible work COR is doing to foster a network committed to innovative waste solutions and industrial symbiosis. For those new to the term, industrial symbiosis involves diverse organizations collaborating to optimize resource use—turning wastes from one process into inputs for another. This approach not only reduces waste but also drives economic gains by transforming the way industries interact. A huge thank you to Alando Simpson and Bill Kent for hosting us and for their ongoing efforts in advancing reuse and community partnerships. #ChapulFarms #Sustainability #IndustrialSymbiosis #Innovation #WasteToResource Patrick Crowley | Todd Severson | Caitlyn Bering

Let's talk nitrogen and plants. ?? Perhaps plants’ most elaborate communication is used to build nitrogen factories with microbes. Plants need nitrogen but can't take it from the atmosphere. Nitrogen is essential for amino acids, proteins, and nucleotides in DNA and RNA. But for plants to use nitrogen, it first has to be altered to a usable form - a process called fixing. The conversion of nitrogen in the air to related nitrogenous compounds and soil fixing can occur naturally by the action of lightning or volcanoes. Humans can provide nitrogen-rich fertilizer and plants can build their own nitrogen factories using microbes that are able to fix nitrogen. Multiple steps are needed to produce nitrogen factories, which are accomplished with elaborate back and forth signaling with bacteria, fungi, and plant roots. Plants have to 1st determine which microbes are friends by sending signals and observing responses. When plants identify the correct microbes, they invite them in to create factories inside the plant. If enemies are found, they send attack molecules instead. https://lnkd.in/g8fFvUe6

"Long Time No See", the new GET THE BUG podcast episode is ON LINE. On Spotify and all major platforms. https://lnkd.in/dBJd-bTN I started this podcast in 2022, and this year in June I was invited to display my pictures at the “Insects to Feed the World” in Singapore. So I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and network, and to once again meet in person some companions on this journey. In this episode you will listen to the conversation I recorded with Dennis Oonincx and Teun Veldkamp from Wageningen University & Research, Shaphan Y. Chia, from the ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, Kenya, Karol B. Barragán-Fonseca, professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and “Insects For Peace” founder, David Giron, from the Insect Biology Research Institute (IRBI), and Michael Place and David Eshed, from two companies: Chapul Farms and FreezeM. ?? This episode was created with the kind support of the Insect Biology Research Institute (IRBI), a joint research unit of the University of Tours, (France) and of the National Center for Scientific Research - CNRS. #insectfarming #insectagriculture #edibleinsects #blacksoldierfly #bsf #insectsforpeace #insectosporlapaz #cricketfarming #tenebrio #mealworm #entomology #moscasoldadonegra #insectprotein?#entomologia #insectos?#naturaldiet #biofertilizers #frass #livestockwelfare #smallholderfarmers?#insectsfood #decolonization #descolonización #insectslovers #insectsofinstagram #circulareconomy #localeconomy #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #documentaryphotography #insectsphotography
