The damage is done. ? When you terminate an employee over performance, office politics, or force them to resign by fostering a toxic environment, remember this: they will move on. In just a few months, they will land better opportunities, grow, and thrive—but they will never forget how you treated them. They will remember the shouting, the humiliation, and the lack of empathy. They will carry the scars of your arrogance—an arrogance that stopped you from leading with compassion and understanding. Your actions leave a mark. You may hold power, but using it to crush someone's dignity reflects poor leadership, not strength. Employees are not disposable tools—they are human beings deserving respect. You might silence them today, but the memories of your behavior will echo far beyond the walls of your office. Leadership isn’t about authority; it’s about accountability, respect, and empathy. Abuse your power, and you tarnish your legacy.

Collaboration doesn’t always mean that everyone agrees. There will be times when you will have a difference in opinion, which is perfectly normal; as a matter of fact, it’s a great thing. Teams that work together effectively can benefit from productive conflict. As Adam Grant indicated: “If two people always agree, it’s a sign that at least one isn’t thinking critically or speaking candidly.” Differences of opinion shouldn’t be considered threats; instead, they can be seen as opportunities to learn and grow. Disagreement is a natural part of any healthy relationship and should not be interpreted as conflict. Every leader must create a psychologically safe workplace that encourages people to voice their disagreements freely with their colleagues and leaders. By learning to disagree respectfully, you can become a better leader while fostering a culture that encourages new leaders to do the same.
