On our final day, March 12th, we hosted a Demo Day, bringing together our four Korean companies with investors and healthcare professionals in LA. Fortunately, the event was completely sold out, and we were incredibly grateful to see such a diverse group of attendees fill the venue to engage with these companies. A special thank you to Korea's true treasure Sung Park and Reed Smith LLP for sponsoring the space and our co-host, Bespoke Strategy's Dave Whelan, for being a moderator and guiding the session. We would also like to express my gratitude to Wavemaker Three-Sixty Health, Kwame Ulmer, for meeting Korean companies before the event, Haley Schwartz for her support in developing GTM materials, Carol Kim for her continued support at Korean-focused events, Cephas Sund, JD, MBA from Aquillius, and Darren Eng, who attended on behalf of LAVA despite his busy schedule. The most rewarding moment was hearing overwhelmingly positive feedback from the audience. Today, we had the incredible opportunity to bring all four startup teams to the renowned Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego for a technology showcase and networking session. A sincere thank you to Ngoc-Ha Nguyen, Dacia Samilo, and the entire team for hosting such a fantastic event! In addition to the presentations from Nayoung K. D. Kim Heejoon Um Sooyoun Chang Eliza (Myunghwa) Jang, we also had the privilege of hearing from two Salk Institute researchers, further reinforcing the potential for meaningful collaborations between Korean and U.S. researchers in the future. We will host a Pitch Day in Century City tomorrow, where over 50 investors and healthcare professionals from LA will attend to engage with our startups. Later in the day, we accompanied Prevenotics for a brief meeting with a hospital MD before heading to UCLA Health to discuss clinical data validation collaborations. One fascinating takeaway was that Arash Naeim at UCLA is already collaborating with Korea’s Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, which shows how much effort Korean institutions and government initiatives are putting into supporting startups’ global expansion. Today, the LA community has shown how welcoming and supportive it is for any foreign startups.
