Founded in 1982, Channel Marker provides mental health and wellness support for adults and youth with severe mental illness in Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties. Through a wide range of on-site, residential and community based services specifically tailored to the needs of each client, more than 55 clinical and mental health services staff serve an average of 400 clients each year. Funding for our work primarily comes from Medicaid with support from generous members of the community, the State of Maryland, and private foundations. OUR MISSION Channel Marker creates a healthy Mid-Shore community by providing mental illness treatment and prevention programs, wellness support, and community services to individuals and their families.

  • CELEBRATE WITH US AT THE BEAUTIFUL WILLOW POND HOUSE ON OCT. 24TH! Channel Marker recently purchased a 3,800 sq. ft. home, the Willow Pond House, located in Denton, MD, to accommodate an expansion of six additional beds for individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses. The Willow Pond House is authorized by Maryland’s Behavioral Health Administration and will be funded through Channel Marker's $1 million Capital Campaign fundraising effort to cover the purchase cost and renovations. As part of a State of Maryland initiative to address housing needs for individuals learning to develop independent living and social skills, the Willow Pond House will help this vulnerable population recover and avoid relapse or hospitalization. This expansion will join seven existing residential properties on the Mid-Shore managed by Channel Marker serving a total of 39 residential beds.   • SELF-CARE AND MOVIES WITH CHRIS MOORE! The Eastern Shore Talk podcast will broadcast live on Tuesday, October 1st at 5:30 PM at the Oxford Community Center. Hosts Jay Watson and Cathy Cassell are thrilled to have Chris Moore, a member of the Easton High School class of '85, as a guest on the show. In this episode, they will discuss the connection between self-care and movies. Chris is not only a mental health advocate but also a well-known Hollywood Film Producer, Writer, and Director. He is best known for his work on films such as Good Will Hunting, American Pie, Manchester by the Sea, The Adjustment Bureau, and Joy Ride, among many others. Chris has received 15 film nominations and is an Oscar nominee. The live podcast at the Oxford Community Center is free and open to the public, so come and join the conversation!

  • Channel Marker Youth Staff wore green on May 7th, “Wear Green Day” to show support for Children's Mental Health Awareness Week. This week, which runs from May 5th - May 11th, 2024, is all about raising awareness of the importance of children's mental health and promoting positive mental health practices to support their healthy development. It's a great opportunity to learn more about this crucial topic and show support for the well-being of our youth. In honor of Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, the Mid Shore Suicide Coalition, a partnership of Channel Marker and Mid Shore Behavioral Health is hosting a free community mental health and wellness event with speaker Matt Runnalls. Matt will be presenting on the topic of REACHING AND UNDERSTANDING OUR YOUTH. This event will be held TOMORROW at the historic Avalon Theatre this Thursday, May 9th, 6:30P-8P. Matt is an award-winning advocate, mind and behavioral specialist, international speaker, and best-selling author. He is a well-recognized mental health expert and advocate who comes to us from Australia to share his insights and experiences of working across the mental health field for well over ten years. Matt continues to create global platforms of communication to bring awareness, acceptance, education, and connection within communities to overcome the stigma and effects of suicide.
