Establishing a securitized financial vehicle for d.light's Pay-Go business in 2020 created a sustainable way for us to scale our business and impact in Africa. Because the financing facility operates in the background, it is often an unsung hero, but the fact is that there are millions of people who are enjoying access to clean energy thanks to this financing vehicle being in place. Hats off to Kamal Lath for kicking this off and for Ronald Pfende for seeing through the implementation and scale up. How do we best enable this next generation of builders to see the world as it, have the idealism to see the what could be and the pragmatism to build it.

I just spent a few days with my parents during a time that could have been stressful, but instead was full of presence, friendship, gratitude and joy. What I noticed most was the way gratitude stands like a mast in the center of my parent’s 64-year love marriage. They practice it daily, expressing thanks for things big and small. It enables them to stand on solid ground, to love and be loved in this world. For them, faith is a bridge, a reminder that they’ve been here for difficult times and yet they know that good times also are in front of us. A long time ago, they made a commitment to the commitment of loving one another. They came to understand that marriage itself requires love and community and faith. And everyone who encounters them feels it. Seeing best friends of 60 years show up reminded me that friendship, too, is full of commitment and presence. Gratitude for this world. Faith in one another. To love and be loved. To welcome in goodness defiantly as the way to fight the evil that would see any of us as anything less than equal.
