Change the Air Foundation, alongside our incredible West Virginian volunteers, is making waves in the fight for safer indoor air!????? ????House Bill 2353—introduced by WV State Delegate Adam Burkhammer—?is all about setting high remediation standards and spreading the word to keep our communities safe and informed about the dangers of mold and water damage. If passed, the bill will: ??Require all mold remediation follow the ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard, ensuring every job is done right with certified “direct supervisors” leading the charge. ???Require the Department of Public Health to launch an awareness campaign—including website resources and expert contacts to help West Virginians tackle mold’s health risks. Additionally, they’ll review cutting-edge remediation tech every five years. ???Require mold remediation professionals to register with the state, proving active third-party certification and financial liability.? Highlights of the bill include: ??All mold remediation must now meet the trusted ANSI/IICRC S520 standard. A registry of active third-party certified mold remediators will ensure every remediation job has qualified personnel on-site. ??The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services will launch a campaign with brochures, online resources, and tools to help Iowans understand the serious health risks of mold and water damage.
