Building a better future for everyone.
关于我们
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded in 2015 to help solve some of society’s toughest challenges — from eradicating disease and improving education, to addressing the needs of our communities. Through collaboration, providing resources and building technology, our mission is to help build a more inclusive, just and healthy future for everyone. We engage directly in the communities we serve because no one understands how to address our society’s challenges better than those who live them everyday. These partners help us identify problems and opportunities, learn fast and iterate toward our audacious goals for the next century. We strive to be humble, empathetic and life-long learners who work collaboratively to develop community-centered solutions. To help build a more just, equitable future, we embrace people from all backgrounds and experiences, who challenge each other’s assumptions with fresh perspectives. To that end, we are co-creating an environment where everyone feels respected, valued and we celebrate the beauty in the diversity of our shared strength. Stories are a powerful tool to change hearts and minds and energize people to take action. Grantees All Home and the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH) recently debuted 'Stories of Home' in our Community Space, showcasing powerful short films from the Housing Justice Storytelling Initiative. The Initiative brought together seven housing justice organizations, a storyteller from their communities and a local team of filmmakers to highlight some of the solutions at work in the #BayArea. #community #AffordableHousing #housing #HousingSecurity

What comes next after winning the Nobel Prize? ?? Newly minted Nobel Laureate David Baker is applying his prize-winning work in collaboration with imaging expert, Julia Mahamid, to unlock new levels of detail within our cells. This is part of our goal to accelerate imaging technology so scientists can visualize how cells change in health and disease, leading to better diagnostics and treatments. #science #research #biomedicine #NobelPrize #Microscopy

How does one cell become an entire body? Merlin Lange, Loic Royer and scientists at #CZBiohubSF tackled one of biology’s biggest questions. By building bespoke microscopy tools, they were able to track single cells in high resolution within individual zebrafish embryos. A five year labor of love, they used this technology to build a comprehensive atlas of vertebrate development in exquisite detail. Named the Zebrahub, this open access atlas will be a foundational blueprint for future studies on how organisms, including humans, develop. This information is key to understanding how diseases arise and how we may be able to leverage the powers of development for regeneration. #science #CellBiology #CellDevelopment #SingleCell

We’re feeling inspired by the valuable insights, relationships and knowledge we gained at the Science in Society 2024 meeting! Contributors discussed how advances in large language models, computational tools and more could help shorten the rare disease diagnostic journey for patients and their clinicians—even in cases doctors haven’t encountered before. The meeting showcased the essential role of patient-driven research in pushing scientific discovery forward. Attendees described how investments and advances in patient-powered data and research infrastructure drives progress towards cures. Thank you to all who joined us! #AI #HealthEquity #PatientResearch #research #RareAsOne #RareDisease

What would you study if the sky was the limit? We’re collaborating with Columbia University, The Rockefeller University and Yale University on cutting-edge immune cell research at our New York Biohub. Our mission? To engineer immune cells that could detect diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s earlier. We’re excited to share this journey with a community of innovators dedicated to advancing science. #science #engineering #collaboration #healthresearch #inflammation #CZBiohubNY

Exciting news! ?? Our Rare As One community has expanded to include international patient-led organizations. “We’ve spent five years growing with the Rare as One network, and now it’s time to scale up to support international organizations,” shared CZI Lead for the Rare As One Network Heidi Bjornson-Pennell. From Serbia to the UK, these groups are bringing important ideas and perspectives to address the global burden of rare diseases. “People all around the world are impacted by rare diseases, but there is a lack of awareness, funding and fundamental infrastructure to support rare disease research and care.” The expansion of the RAO Network will promote collaboration across borders and strengthen patient-driven efforts to address rare diseases worldwide. #RareDisease #RareDiseaseAwareness #RareAsOne #Funding #Collaboration
