Courage is more than a conversation. It’s not just about shifting narratives or navigating uncertainty. True courage means standing firm when ethics are inconvenient, speaking up when silence is safer, and making the right choice—even when it comes at a cost. The?Champions of Courage Awards?honour those who embody this in action, not just words. Because real leadership isn’t about crafting a perfect story - it’s about?living?it with integrity. #ChampionsOfCourage #EthicalLeadership #IntegrityInAction #celebrate #moralcourage #coaching #mentoring #leadership #courageousleadership

The Quiet Strength of Embodied Ethics Ethics is not merely a set of principles to quote or concepts to champion. It is a way of being—a lived, felt, and embodied practice that shapes how we engage with others, especially when the spotlight isn’t on us. Performative ethics often seeks to signal alignment with values without the follow-through of aligned action. It is the words that sound right but ring hollow when held up to the reality of one’s behaviour. In contrast, embodied ethics goes deeper—it is ethics in action, fully attuned to ethicality as a way of living. It requires humility, integrity, and congruence between what we profess and what we practise. When ethics is truly embodied, it transcends performative gestures and becomes a quiet, consistent force. It is not about the performance of values but their integration into how we make decisions, treat others, and show up in the world. This is the heart of the Champions of Courage Awards, sponsored by Coaching Ethics Forum (CEF) & ETHICAL EDGE Insights (EEi) to honour individuals who don’t just talk about ethics but live and breathe it, inspiring others to do the same. Where in your life are you performing ethics, and where are you truly embodying it? How would others feel the difference?

Champions of Courage Awards转å‘了
Champions of Courage Awards: Celebrating Ethical Bravery Courage is often misunderstood as fearlessness, but as Robert Biswas-Diener writes in?The Courage Quotient, it is?“the willingness to act toward a moral or worthwhile goal despite the presence of risk, uncertainty, and fear.†In the?Champions of Courage Awards, we celebrate those who embody this kind of bravery—individuals and teams who demonstrate the strength to act with integrity and purpose. I’ve written more about the theoretical foundations of courage, its connection to ethicality, and further inspiration behind these awards. The Coaching Ethics Forum (CEF) Champions of Courage Awards was founded on a light bulb idea a couple of weeks ago. December 2024, as I was sitting in a cafe in Paris thinking about this years hugely successful and enjoyable CEF2024 and where it began in March 2021, to our first conference in February of 2022. I was thinking about the shift in myself and my thinking about ethics - here is a snippet of my evolution. When I first began this journey, ethics often seemed like something that surfaced when things went wrong—something we turned to when there was tension or a decision to reflect on. It was in the background, almost like a safety net. But over time, I’ve grown, and my understanding has shifted profoundly. Ethics is no longer just a framework to analyse dilemmas after the fact. It has become central to who we are—or who we strive to be. I’ve come to see ethics as something to embody—to live and lead through an ethical lens, where it isn’t just about being aware or making decisions in a moment but about how we act in every moment. It’s about striving for ethicality as a way of life, integrating it into our identities so that it informs how we think, interact, and lead, not just when there’s a challenge, but as a foundation for all that we do. This shift—to view life through an ethical lens—has transformed how I approach not only my work but also relationships, leadership, and even resilience. It’s no longer a tool we turn to in crisis; it’s the compass we use to navigate every aspect of life. I hope you will join me on this journey through the Champions of Courage Awards, the work at Coaching Ethics Forum (CEF) the JOURNAL of COACHING ETHICS (JoCE) and my online magazine ETHICAL EDGE Insights (EEi) Wendy-Ann Smith Founder #coaching #ethics #cef2025 #mentoring #leadership #ChampionsofCourageawards #coc2025
