关于我们
Challenge Success is a non-profit affiliated with the Stanford Graduate School of Education. We partner with K-12 school communities to elevate student voice and implement research-based, equity-centered strategies that improve well-being, engagement, and belonging. Our vision is that educational systems value each student for their unique identities, assets, and individual definitions of success and effectively prepare them for the variety of opportunities and challenges they will encounter in school and beyond. Since 2003, we have partnered with over 700 schools nationwide and surveyed over 375,000 students. We work with ~45 secondary schools per year in our School Program, which offers timely and practical strategies in areas such as school climate, pedagogy, assessment, and school schedule. Multi-stakeholder teams progress through a series of phases designed to help garner buy-in from the community and generate sustainable solutions. Schools demonstrate positive impacts on students, including reduced stress, more balance, increased engagement, better teacher support, more sleep, less cheating, and an improved sense of belonging. Educators also report feeling better equipped to prioritize student well-being and implement student-centered practices.

Educators have known for years that social, emotional, and cognitive processing are all neurologically intertwined and that creating a school climate of care has long-lasting protective effects for adolescents. ?? Creating climates of care is a big focus area for schools we partner with across the country. With the help of educators, students, and research from the field, we have highlighted four strategies schools can try in our latest blog. Check out the blog via the link below for more on climates of care and these 4 research-backed strategies! ???? https://lnkd.in/guCqPbFq #schoolculture #principals #students #edleadership #educhat #k12 #belonging #wellbeingmatters #challengesuccess #TeacherTools #ClassroomIdeas #EquityInEducation

Why “Learner-Centered” Isn’t Enough—We Need “Relationship-Centered” Learning I just saw a session announcement with three amazing faculty I deeply respect—@Michelene Chi, Carol Dweck, and Jill Komaya—titled "Adopting Learner-Centered Practices." It will likely be an inspiring discussion, but it also got me thinking: What if learner-centered isn’t enough? The term suggests a well-intended focus on individual students, but it subtly reinforces a misconception—that learning happens in isolation. In reality, learning is deeply relationship-centered. From our earliest days, our brains grow and develop through connection—through the warmth of a caregiver, the encouragement of a mentor, the exchange of ideas with peers. The science is clear: relationships aren’t just beneficial to learning; they are the foundation of it. If we truly want to unlock human potential, we must shift from learner-centered to relationship-centered learning. When we prioritize love, belonging, and collaboration, we don’t just build knowledge—we build resilience, empathy, and the capacity to thrive. Education isn’t about isolated individuals mastering content. It’s about humans growing, together. Let’s reimagine learning through the power of relationships. #lovetolearn

Our data shows that 25-30% of students don't have a trusted adult connection at school. The good news: it only takes one trusted adult to positively change a student's life. ? What did your path to success look like? Was it a perfectly straight line from point A to point B? Or were there bumps along the road? Failures? Triumphs? Moments of confusion? Share your story in the comments! We believe in challenging narrow notions of success. Extrinsic measures such as grades, test scores, wealth, where you go to college, don't tell the whole story. Success is so much more, and DIFFERENT for each of us. ?
