Moving community solar forward in Illinois!

The Chaberton team is on the ground in Illinois this week! Chabertonians Jennifer Pauley, MBA and Duwane Rager are meeting with key legislators and joining forces with Coalition for Community Solar Access to help drive home the message that community solar creates big wins for Illinois residents. Solar farms can do more than produce clean energy—they restore ecosystems! ???? To highlight the real-world value of agrivoltaics, Chaberton is launching a blog series exploring how we incorporate agriculture into our solar projects (and vice versa—stay tuned for more!). In this first installment, we focus on local plant and pollinator habitats and their role in improving soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and supporting pollinators. ?????? Energy is fundamental. And reading is, too! Recently, through Chaberton Cares, we contributed $8,000 to Delaware's Selbyville Public Library in support of their new 15,000-square-foot library building. This donation was part of our early-stage community engagement during the development of the Blue Hen and Biggins Creek community solar projects in Sussex County.? ? The library is one of 16 non-profits that Chaberton Cares has supported, with many more to come. Through these efforts, Chaberton Energy shows how sustainable practices and community support can drive meaningful and lasting change for a variety of stakeholders.? ? Chaberton’s contributions “make a significant impact on the operation of the Selbyville Public Library and its future financial health,” said Kelly Kline, director of the Selbyville Public Library. The library’s new space serves as a hub for learning, community events and endless inspiration. Vibrant, modern interiors filled with natural light provide library patrons with areas that encourage exploration. Members of #TeamChaberton had the opportunity to tour Beyond Silicon, Inc. in Arizona, a pioneering startup operating "beyond the lab but before the fab." We got a firsthand look at their innovative work to increase solar panel efficiency. Sending a huge thank you to Z. Jason Yu and Mathilde Fievez for leading the tour and sharing their expertise. Beyond Silicon is one of only three locations in the U.S. using perovskite with general?chemical formula ABX3, a next-generation material that enhances solar performance by layering on top of traditional silicon cells. This innovative material, a byproduct of mining, undergoes a specialized lamination process and has been rigorously tested with more than?3,000 hours of solar simulator data to validate its potential. We were proud to empower the next generation of environmental leaders at the YES! Delaware Youth Environmental Summit! ??? Through Chaberton Cares, over 750 students and teachers were able to attend for free! ? What is YES!?? The Delaware Youth Environmental Summit (YES!) is a statewide event that brings together high school students passionate about protecting our planet.?Since its launch, YES! has grown into a major collaboration of nonprofits, educators, agencies, businesses, and students working to engage youth in sustainability, environmental advocacy, and climate solutions. This year's summit connected students with sustainability experts, climate advocates, and clean energy professionals. Our own?Amee Bearne, AICP spoke about careers in renewable energy, inspiring students to explore opportunities in solar and beyond. Plus, our intern?Pepper (Peter) Gilbert?was on the ground, engaging with attendees and sharing how Chaberton is making a difference in clean energy! ???
