Two weeks ago, CGS Architects celebrated the groundbreaking of St. Anselm's Abbey School’s Benedictine Learning Center. We’re excited to collaborate with Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) on this project, which will become the new mainstay of St. Anselm’s campus. Among attendees was Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal Wilton Gregory, who gave his blessing for the new building. CGS is thrilled to be involved in the creation of another high quality building for St. Anselm’s, our fifth on campus!

CGS Architects was thrilled to hear that our Duke Ellington School of the Arts project has been recognized as the winner of the America ByDesign: Architecture Season 2 Ferguson People’s Choice Award! We couldn’t be more proud of this achievement!
The people have spoken! The project that received the most votes in America ByDesign: Architecture Season 2 Ferguson People’s Choice Award was … Duke Ellington School of the Arts ! This project clearly struck a chord with our viewers. It is a story that exemplifies architecture perfectly balancing form and function and highlighting the way that architecture can truly be an integral component of a broader purpose and philosophy. We’re proud to have had the privilege of designing the Crossroads Building at Langley School—a space that not only serves as a functional academic building but also acts as a central hub for the entire school community. Opened in September 2022, this 40,000 sq ft space is the culmination of CGS' comprehensive campus master plan and a key element in realizing the school’s vision for innovative learning and community engagement. The Crossroads Building was designed to foster curiosity, collaboration, and creativity. It features adaptable classrooms, a state-of-the-art library, an innovation lab, and multipurpose spaces—all contributing to a dynamic learning environment. More than just an academic space, the building has become a beacon for connection and community, hosting events that bring students, teachers, and families together. This is a place where movement, exploration, and student expression are celebrated, and where leadership development, particularly in the fifth grade, is a focal point. The building’s design also supports Langley’s commitment to environmental sustainability and enhances the overall flow and openness of the campus. As the Crossroads Building continues to serve as a hub for Langley’s students and faculty, we look forward to seeing how this space evolves to meet the needs of future generations. ?? Early-stage construction is moving along at Malcolm X ES in #Ward8! We’re working hard to deliver this school modernization with Net Zero for our District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) partners. This modernization will be roughly 63,000 square feet, comprising a combination of renovation of the existing building and new construction. ?? We could not do this work without our amazing Capital Construction Services Division, Project Managers Derek Riley and Rowan Alkaysi, design-build team GCS-Sigal and CGS Architects, and our client agency DC Public Schools and all involved! Stay tuned for more updates! #DGSBuilds #ActiveConstruction #DCRenovations #SchoolRenovations #DCPSModernizations

From creativity to community impact, CGS Architects/GCS-SIGAL really nailed this event. Great job team!
This past Sunday, the GCS-SIGAL/CGS Architects team "nailed it" at the AIA|DC + WAF CANstruction event, building an over 7-foot-tall hammer driving a nail into a wall! If you haven’t yet, be sure to stop by the National Building Museum before December 2 to see these amazing structures up close. We’re proud to support this meaningful cause, knowing that all of the non-perishable cans used will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank after DE-CANstruction. #CANstruction #WeNailedIt #BuildingCommunity #CapitalAreaFoodBank #NationalBuildingMuseum
