?? Welcome Matt Perley to the Board of Directors! ?? The Community Foundation for McHenry County is thrilled to welcome Matthew Perley to our Board of Directors this year. A lifelong resident of McHenry County, Matt brings a deep commitment to our community through various roles. As a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Johnsburg, he leverages his expertise to support local families and businesses. In addition to his professional contributions, Matt serves as a Major in the Army Reserves and is an active member of the VFW and JCMC. He also holds a position on the board for the Johnsburg Community Club. Outside of his professional and volunteer endeavors, Matt is a devoted husband and father to three children and is an avid sports fan. (Chicago Bears and Clemson Tigers!) ? McHenry County Crisis Fund - St. Johns Fire Update ? Following the devastating fire on St. Johns Rd. in Woodstock, The Community Foundation for McHenry County has launched the McHenry County Crisis Fund to support those impacted. ?? An initial $10,000 in emergency funding has been provided, and community donors have raised an additional $18,000—bringing the total to $28,000! ?? The fund will provide long-term recovery assistance, including shelter, medical care, and necessities, in collaboration with local organizations. The Community Foundation for McHenry County is proud to welcome Mike Biver to its Board of Directors. As the Senior Director of Gift Planning at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Mike brings extensive philanthropic planning and donor relations experience to our Board. Before returning to Illinois to join Lyric, he spent time in Minnesota, where he earned his Juris Doctor and worked at a community foundation. There, he developed a deep understanding of the distinct and impactful role community foundations play. Outside of his nonprofit work, Mike is passionate about improving our food system to ensure we feed ourselves in a way that nourishes both our bodies and the planet in a sustainable, regenerative way. While not at the opera, he devotes his time to his wife, Colleen, and their four children - often working together on their family farm, Terra Vitae Farms. The Community Foundation for McHenry County has awarded grants to several local initiatives aimed at enhancing community well-being: - St. Vincent De Paul of St. Mary's: $7,000 to support essential services for families in need. - Woodstock Fine Arts Association: $7,000 to promote creativity through engaging art programs. - Melissa O'Leary Memorial Splash Pad: $7,000 for a safe, fun space for families. - Harvard Community Food Pantry: $3,000 to combat food insecurity. - Woodstock Area Community Ministry: $7,000 for emergency financial assistance.
