Mary Kate joins us with a robust background in public administration, event coordination, and community-focused initiatives. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Mississippi State University and is currently completing her Master’s in Public Administration at Clemson University. With professional experience in the legal, educational, and philanthropic sectors, Mary Kate is well-prepared to bring our community events to life. We are excited to announce two members of our Community Foundation team! First up is Nancy Washington Vaughn, Esq., PHR, SHRM-CP, our first Director of Charitable Strategies. Nancy will be collaborating with donors and professional advisors to inspire, simplify, and amplify generosity in our community. Nancy's work focuses on nurturing relationships with prospective and current donors to deepen investment in our dynamic community. To that end, she creates personalized charitable solutions to fit a donor's specific generosity strategy to support their philanthropic goals. “I’m thrilled to join the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and contribute to an organization that is focused on mobilizing generosity in our community through donor's charitable gifts.” Nancy said. “I look forward to providing exceptional support and opportunities for our donors,” Nancy adds. In addition to her legal and human resources professional experiences, Nancy has been actively involved as a community volunteer serving on various boards and committees, including the CFGH Board, further preparing her for this role at the Community Foundation. Nancy is an attorney; certified human resources professional; and a certified diversity, equity, & inclusion in the workplace professional. Nancy earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Vanderbilt University Law School. She is a member of the Alabama, District of Columbia, Georgia, and Tennessee Bar Associations. Nancy has Bachelor of Science degrees in Communication Arts and Political Science with a minor degree in African American Studies (summa cum laude) from Austin Peay State University. She holds the HR Certification Institute designation of a Professional in Human Resources (PHR); the Society for Human Resource Management designation of a Certified Professional (SHRM-CP); and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida College of Business.
