Congratulations to the 14 graduates of the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) Leadership Mentoring Program, Class III! Last week, we honored each participant upon the conclusion of this year's program. This mentoring program is designed to engage with a diverse group of mid-level leaders (lodging and allied) by getting them more involved with CFHLA and helping them to advance their careers within the hospitality industry. Participants in the program learned about leadership management, public speaking, networking, conflict resolution and even emotional intelligence. Lastly, we'd like to say thank you to the 30 mentors who shared their time, energy and expertise to help mold the next generation of hospitality industry professionals. Congratulations the 46 students who recieved a hospitality student scholarship to attend the University of Central Florida – Rosen College of Hospitality Management this year. Thank you to UCF for inviting our CFHLA team, along with our CFHLA Foundation Board Members to the college's recent 2024-2025 scholarships reception. The Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) has always been a proud supporter of students receiving scholarships to attend Rosen College and we were excited to recognize each of you. The Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) Board of Directors recently held its November Board Meeting and Silver Partnership Luncheon at the Conrad Orlando. Thank you to General Manager Sean McCarron and the Conrad Orlando team for hosting the meeting and fantastic luncheon. CFHLA also thanks Greenery Productions for sponsoring our final Board Meeting of 2024. This luncheon was an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our Silver Partner Members for their strong support of throughout 2024. We are incredibly thankful for the strong, steady and visionary leadership of our outgoing 2024 Board Chair Barb Bowden with LOEWS HOTELS AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT and we look forward to our incoming 2025 CFHLA Board Chair Chris Mueller with Hilton Orlando beginning in January. #CFHLA #HospitalityStrong

Help us support our local students in need by donating a new pair of shoes and a package of new socks at our final Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) Cares Collection Drive of the year. All sizes are needed and the donated items will support the students at Orange County Public Schools, Osceola County School District and The Sharing Center. You can drop off the shoes and socks at the CFHLA office from 8 am to 4 pm Monday, December 9th through Thursday, December 12th. Today, the entire hospitality and tourism industry mourns the loss of a hospitality giant and incredible philanthropist, Mr. Harris Rosen. Mr. Rosen’s impact on the hospitality and tourism industry has been so profound, not just here in Central Florida but throughout the entire globe. Mr. Rosen was truly a visionary who created thousands of jobs, generously gave away millions in college scholarships to families in need in Tangelo Park and Parramore, created a healthcare clinic to help his employees stay healthy, supported disaster relief efforts every year to families across the state, and so much more. Mr. Rosen was named the CFHLA Lodging Member of the Year in 1990 and his unwavering support for UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management will continue to empower students to seek successful careers for decades to come. We are grateful for Mr. Rosen’s extraordinary contributions to our community and his legacy will always represent the essence of a determined business and community leader, with an amazing heart for charity and service to others. On behalf of the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Rosen family, his team members at Rosen Hotels & Resorts and all of the lives he has impacted throughout his career. His legacy will continue to live on through all of us and philanthropic spirit will never be forgotten.

Congratulations to the Orlando Pride on becoming the 2024 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Champions, after defeating the Washington Spirit 1-0 in Kansas City on Saturday night! To honor the team’s players and celebrate the team's first title, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer invites our community to downtown Orlando for a parade and celebration this afternoon. The fan celebration will also be streamed on www.Orlando-Pride.com. The parade will begin at Central Boulevard at 4:30 p.m., and it'll include Orlando Pride players, Walt Disney World's Main Street Philharmonic, special guests, and giveaways as the parade makes its way to Orlando City Hall. Congratulations to both of our Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) PAC endorsed Orange County Public Schools Board Members including Stephanie Vanos and Melissa Byrd on your swearing in this week! Additionally, CFHLA was proud to be a champion for the half-penny sales tax renewal that supports the construction and maintenance of our local Orange County schools. This important local initiative was also approved with more than 71% of the voters.
