Last week I attended #SRNA in Miami, FL where I had the pleasure of speaking not once, but twice during the conference. First, Joseph Marks of Capital Dynamics and I had a fireside chat about the overall secondary market. Reflecting on our conversation, we agreed the exit backlog is immense and new sellers are entering the secondary market every year. ?Another record year is expected for secondaries.? ? Later, Joe and I were joined by Ankit Sud of NewView Capital for a deeper dive into the venture capital secondary market. During the panel, we discussed how a slow IPO market could lead to secondaries becoming more frequent within VC. Last week, I hosted a key note panel at #ALTSLA which was dedicated to finding the best alternative investment opportunities for 2025. We discussed which real estate sectors will be resilient should the US economy slowdown, as well as rescue capital for secondaries investments in real estate, private credit, and hedge funds. The panel agreed that despite a potential slowdown in the US economy in 2025, there’s opportunity to lean into risk, especially in mid-market growth equity, secondaries, and low beta hedge funds. In addition to the key note panel, I also had the pleasure of interviewing Vice President Dan Quayle for the second time. We covered topics such as tariffs, Trump's first two months in the White House, leadership of the Democratic Party, Putin and Ukraine, DOGE and our Defense Policy. It was an open and honest discussion, and the Vice President was fully transparent in his views. He also took questions from the audience, providing attendees at the conference the opportunity to ask more questions about China, Europe, NATO and other topics.
