The Greenfield Recorder spoke to CET's Customer Relationship Lead Khrysti Smyth Barry at the Town of Greenfield Massachusetts Energy Fair. Khrysti shared information about the MassHousing Energy Saver Home Loan Program (ESHLP) and the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank. Khrysti explained the benefits of the program to reporter Erin-Leigh H.“If you’re using less resources, that ultimately will be a cost savings, even though your return on investment might be a little bit longer, depending on what your specific situation is. Another [reason] could be because it’s the thing that will eventually save the planet,” Barry said. “All our efforts added up … is going to really make a difference.” ?? ?? About the program: The Energy Saver Home Loan Program is designed to help low- and moderate-income homeowners make clean energy improvements to their homes. This new program lowers barriers to clean energy adoption and assists property owners to cut their energy use and reduce or eliminate their reliance on fossil fuels by providing affordable financing and high-touch customer service features.

The Mass Black Expo is the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts, Inc.’s signature event, the premier annual showcase in the Commonwealth for Black businesses, organizations, and allies committed to building Black wealth through impact, access, and equity.

Located in Warren, Rhode Island, Hope & Main is a nonprofit culinary incubator dedicated to transforming the local food economy. It supports small food businesses by offering certified, affordable shared-use commercial kitchens and a maker’s market, fostering an environment where food entrepreneurs can thrive. CET staff conducted a waste assessment at Hope & Main Downtown Makers Marketplace and Cafe in Providence, identifying several strategies for enhanced waste reduction: initiating a food scrap diversion program starting with back-of-house operations and expanding to front-of-house, adding waste bin signage, providing additional staff training; and improving mixed recycling programs. Hope & Main Downtown Makers Marketplace is leading the implementation of these CET recommendations to enhance its waste reduction efforts. https://lnkd.in/gNDmgc9N

"Massachusetts’s clean energy goals are ambitious, and reaching them is hugely dependent on the decisions of individual homeowners. ... That’s why inclusive utility investments could be a key solution to get more people on board, said Ashley Muspratt, president and CEO of CET. “Off the bat, you are presenting the customer with an opportunity that almost sounds too good to be true,” she said. “But there isn’t a catch. Meet Douglas Thayer, a small business owner doing construction, renovation, and carpentry in Florence, MA. We worked with him on several energy efficiency projects at his workshop, ranging from blown insulation in the attic to LED bulbs and weatherstripping the doors. These measures have a calculated impact of saving 150 lifetime tons of Carbon, which is the equivalent to planting over 5000 trees! ?
