I have updated the photogrammetric map of the Noto Peninsula earthquake-stricken area provided by Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, showing the situation from the end of June to the beginning of July. Six months after the earthquake, many buildings are still damaged, and houses are covered with blue sheets. Cesium Stories: https://lnkd.in/gVRVGbzY

It’s Friday at Cesium, which means it’s Demo Day and we share internal and public updates with each other. Post acquisition by Bentley Systems, I’m very happy to see our continued emphasis on the 3D geospatial ecosystem, openness, and moving fast on behalf of our users. And of course, lots of Cesium t-shirts.

We are increasing our investment and participation in The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) following our acquisition of Cesium last week — doubling down on Bentley Systems’ commitment to open data and standards. Julien Moutte Patrick Cozzi Tom Kurke
*Bentley Systems Expands Investment in OGC and Reinforces Commitment to Open Standards Following Cesium Acquisition* Bentley Systems has increased its investment and engagement in OGC Membership. Bentley recently acquired Cesium, a fellow OGC member and the creator of #3DTiles, an OGC Community Standard for massive heterogenous 3D geospatial content. Bentley’s increased investment in OGC, coupled with its acquisition of Cesium, signals their commitment to a future built around open standards, data, and infrastructure. OGC’s trusted community of problem solvers leverages the power of geography, open standards, and interconnected systems to address real-world problems while opening up opportunities for commercial growth. “We are pleased to see this increased investment in OGC by Bentley, and their support to us as a Principal member,” said Peter Rabley, Chief Executive Officer, OGC. “As a Principal Member of OGC, Bentley will play a significant role serving on OGC’s Executive Planning Committee and participating in final approval decisions for all OGC Standards and nominations to the Board of Directors”. Patrick Cozzi, Chief Platform Officer, Bentley, and Cesium founder, commented, “The success and impact of 3D Tiles as an open standard reinforces our belief that openness and interoperability are essential to making the best use of location information to benefit society. We look forward to continuing to work within the OGC community as part of Bentley.” “Bentley is a strong supporter of open data ecosystems,” added Julien Moutte, Chief Technology Officer, Bentley Systems. “As a principal member of OGC, we are committing further resources to accelerate the development and adoption of open standards that benefit applications for the built and natural environment.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eqjqgPgw

Garrett Johnson is such a passionate and talented advocate for open source. Opening doors to 3D Tiles utility for the Three.JS community is amazing ecosystem work I am so proud to support.
Bring #3DTiles into #threejs! With support from a Cesium Ecosystem Grant, Garrett Johnson added new features to 3DTilesRendererJS, created at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The #opensource library, which enables 3D Tiles in Three.js, now has support for new 3D Tiles metadata extensions + other features. https://lnkd.in/gQ4p759H

The 5th Annual Geo-Resolution has started a bang! More than 1000 people registered for St. Louis’ one-of-a-kind conference to hear from global thought leaders and learn how location data is being captured, processed, analyzed and modeled to solve for complex industrial, medical, agricultural and societal challenges. We’re talking satellites, remote sensors, medical imaging, drones, computer visioning, modeling and simulation, digital twins, and chaining AI. And it’s all happening here in St. Louis with great INTENTION and the collaboration of our business leaders, universities, innovators, government and industry partners. If you’re a company that prioritizes innovation, put a pin on St. Louis as a location you need to explore.
