?? Bybit Hacked for $1.4 Billion ?? On February 21, 2025, Bybit suffered the largest crypto heist in history, losing $1.4 billion. A sophisticated attack altered the signing interface, misleading signers into approving a transaction that changed the underlying smart contract logic. This allowed the attacker to take control of Bybit’s ETH cold wallet and transfer funds to an unidentified address. Our analysis revealed the complexity of the attack, which combined malicious contract deployment with advanced manipulation techniques. This incident underscores the evolving threat landscape in Web3 security and highlights the need for robust auditing and monitoring solutions. The incident has raised questions about the security of multi-signature wallets and the importance of verifying signing interfaces. As blockchain technology continues to advance, attackers are finding new ways to exploit vulnerabilities, making proactive security measures more critical than ever.
