This is a mandatory federal requirement, and failure to comply can lead to serious penalties, including: 1. Civil penalties: Up to $500 per day for each day the violation continues. 2. Criminal penalties: Fines of up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment for up to 2 years if the failure to report is found to be willful. To avoid these penalties, make sure you have everything ready to file on time. Here’s what you’ll need: 1. Basic business information – including name, address, and EIN (Employer Identification Number). 2. Beneficial ownership details – the names, birthdates, addresses, and a copy of government-issued ID (like a driver’s license or passport) for all individuals who own or control at least 25% of the business. 3. Company structure information – documentation outlining the management and organizational structure of your business.
