Healthcare orgs, have you ever thought about deploying a virtual interpreter call center? Here’s the gist of what it is: A virtual interpreter call center leverages your staff interpreters in a slightly different way by setting them up to assist patients remotely through video conferencing technology. It’s not one or the other (in-person vs. remote interpreting) but BOTH! CLI’s CEO Kristin Quinlan goes deeper: https://lnkd.in/gmeSFPTv #healthcare #medicalinterpreter #videoremoteinterpreting

Crush the nerves, the hesitation, the but-I-don’t-know-hows of working with a telephone interpreter: - Know what you need to access the service (pin, code, etc.) ?? - Know your conference call options (aka do you need to add another individual into the call) - Be ready for voicemail ??? - Speak clearly - Speak directly to your customer, client, or patient (not to the interpreter) - Speak one at a time - Speak freely - Remember: Interpreters are impartial ?? - Don’t forget to thank the interpreter! And you’ll be a pro in no time. #interpreters #business #interpretingservices

Interpreting is about more than semantics. Equally important to careful vocabulary choices is to interpret the tone behind the message, which requires an interpreter to be flexible, knowledgeable, and culturally aware. Some tips: - Match every meaning, but not every pitch - Follow the speaker’s lead - Keep your cool when others get heated - Never tone up but know when to tone down Learn more about how tone and inflection matching produce better outcomes for all parties: https://lnkd.in/gF_TenPw #1nt #interpretingtips

When choosing goods and services, sometimes going with the cheapest option *is* the best option. We cannot keep a pair of sunglasses intact for more than a summer, for example. But not with language services. There is value in good interpretation, and that value can cost extra. Extra spend upfront can save you a huge headache down the road (akin to the old “measure twice, cut once” axiom). Instead of looking at price, we suggest focusing on quality. Let quality drive your decision. What do we mean by that? When looking at LSPs, quality means: - Asking questions about their interpreter onboarding process. How do they screen interpreters to make sure they have the necessary skill set? - Asking about their QA Department (and yes, it should be an entire department). Can they provide data on interpreter QA frequency and average scores achieved? - Asking to see sample QA or complaint resolution reports. Are they thorough? Do they address the issue at hand? It might take a little longer than you’d like to choose an LSP for quality over price. But if you do, you’ll thank yourself later.
