A Minnesota-based medical device company focused on bringing innovations to neurocritical care

关于我们

Cerovations, founded by three medical device executives, is a Minnesota-based medical device company focused on bringing innovations to neurocritical care. Currently, the team is advancing a promising new neurosurgical technology — OsmoFloTM Bimodal Therapy — for treating cerebral edema secondary to severe traumatic brain injury. The OsmoFlo system will soon enter early-stage clinical trials with funding from a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant1 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).

Cerovations is thrilled to introduce the OsmoFlo? Bimodal EVD System, which has the potential to improve outcomes for even the worst cases of traumatic brain injury (TBI). (The OsmoFlo system is under development and not for sale.) A promising new technology, the OsmoFlo: ? Has earned an FDA “breakthrough device” designation ? Has been funded with an $8M grant from the NIH Small Business Innovation Research program ? Is in the planning stages of first-in-human clinical trials with TRACK-TBI, the premier U.S. TBI trial network Each year in the U.S., TBI results in over 200,000 hospitalizations and over 60,000 deaths. For severe cases with treatment-resistant intracranial pressure (ICP), only 10% result in good outcomes. ICP is commonly triggered by cerebral edema—brain swelling due to excess fluid. Identifying and treating cerebral edema is critical to managing severe TBI and other intracranial conditions. The OsmoFlo system adds a new approach designed to remove water from CSF as water vapor. This process aims to raise CSF osmolarity, causing water to move from cerebral tissue to CSF and, as a result, reducing edema and ICP. A bimodal EVD system, the OsmoFlo can be used to remove CSF water vapor or drain CSF. Learn more about OsmoFlo and its potential impact on TBI care: https://lnkd.in/ddvZeSRg
